Default is this a good deal for SC430 ?

HI:
I'm thinking to buy a convertible for the summer coming.
I had a Boxster before, but had to sell it since didn't fit my kid in.

the sc430 is 2+2, even rear seat is small, but still can tell my wife a room behind

I found a 2002 SC430 with 50k miles on it. one owner. $20k.
is this a good deal, any major problem on that year model?

please give me some ideas
Thanks

Hi hangout,

You have provided very little info on the car. My suggestion would be to do your diligent homework on this specific car; maybe get the VIN & check with a dealer on any history that Lexus may have.

Re: $20k. is this a good deal,

That is sort of asking if I like blondes or redheads. The value is what you are willing to pay for it.

One thing that I always do when looking at a used car is to ask about service records. No records and the hair on the back of my neck stands up; especially with these cars. But then again, this specific car may have only had oil changes & other similar maintenance items; they are very reliable cars IMO.

One exception: Ask if it has had a Timing Belt replaced, and try to see some documentation.

Is it for sale from a private party or a used car dealer or a Lexus dealer? These things make a difference to me.

Lastly: Try to do a 'Search' on this site; someone posted some info on what to look for in buying a SC430.

I have an '02 with ~38k miles on it & no problems in the last 15 months that I have owned it; I did have a new Timing Belt put in a couple of months ago due to the age factor not the mileage factor.

Good luck and I mean that,

Jerry Baumchen

There is a sticky and if you have a chance, anything and everything you need to know about the SC will help you, including pricing.

If you are able to post pics, in and out, we can certainly offer our opinion. There are too many variables to consider.

That is sort of asking if I like blondes or redheads. The value is what you are willing to pay for it. Are the redheads worth more money since they are more rare?

It's a Neiman Marcus edition!!! If you expand to view all the pictures, it's 7 of 100.

Better buy it before scdroptop does.

thats a good price! looks like its private party price according to bluebook.. make sure you double triple check that it hasnt been wrecked and repaired that doesnt show car fax. if its clean then I would try to get them down to 19k or 19500.

keep in mind its a 2002 so you will need to check and see if the timing belt has been done yet..

It is the rarest of the special editions! Read about it in scdroptops special edition thread. Not a bad price for a clean nm! You could find nice 2002s for less but you would be hard pressed to come across another nm again EVER.

I just don't know why I just don't like the red interior.. I think its too much really and makes my eyes hurt.. I would of been okay with the seats being red but the carpet too?
