for those who have done the LED tail conversion
I have two questions:
1. Did you need to order 81555-24140 (the wires) or were the lamps plug and play into the existing wiring. I know Sewell is charging about 20 a side for the wires and i wasnt going to order them if i could use my old ones.
2. could you/did you keep your existing trunk lid reflectors. I know people have done a swap of those too but they look exactly the same...is it a fitment issue?
Thanks!

If my memory serves me right you had to get new wire harness. I did it when I first got my SC and I am 99.999% sure you have to get a new wire harness to go with the lights.. For the trunk lid reflectors I never heard of anyone changing those... I'm not sure if its really a difference?
Hope that helps.

Now that you have brought it up, when I ordered the set, I saw that the part numbers on the wiring harness were the same (comparing the current tail and the LED). Since nobody brought it up and I would think Sewell will not sell it if it is not required, I took it at face value.
When I install the set, I will compare the old and the new.
The garnish should be replaced with the updated ones, there will be a slight gap difference. I have read it that you reeally do not need to and somebody will never pick it up.
But the new garnish is an entrirely new design (horizontal instead of vertical lines) and works better with the LED tail. I highly suggest that the updated garnish be purchased.

The only other thing is that you will probably not get the "package pricing" if you order retail.

As others have said you DEFINITELY need a new wiring harness.
As for the reflectors, there is a noticeable gap if you use the old reflectors with the new tails. This is the current setup I have on my vehicle until I can get the new reflectors to match. If you are a stickler to detail then I would definitely get the reflectors to match. If you can live with imperfection for a little bit then the old reflectors with the new tails will work for the time being. Hope this helped!

i went ahead and got the wires and the reflectors so my retro is going to cost me about 800 after shipping.
My tail lamp ECU/RH reflector/RH tail light/ LH tail light including bulbs were pulled from a 2009 SC430 and the wires/ LH reflector are new from sewell.

81555 right side. 81565 left side. When pairing numbers the lower number is usually on the right. In this case, the 81555 and 81565 part codes show the same part number 81555-24140, thus they are the same part number for both left and right. This is despite the part codes being different (as they normally do).
81555 right (passenger side) - 8155524140
81565 left (driver side) - 8155524140
Another little trick if a part is color coded - white is right and blue is left.

The tails are in!
Thanks Darrel for expediting the tails. Thanks for the amber bulbs, but decided at the last minute to go with the chromies, but easy to go to amber. At least I have a choice!
I am so satisfied with the look of the LED tails.

And yes, the old garnish look odd and out of place with the LED tail and the gap is so obvious. Must get the updated garnish.

Check out the pics I posted showing the gap between the old garnish and the LED tail. Ugly.
