I agree that the cars are not holding full retail value anymore. I suppose thats a plus for the new MB models. On the other hand, the car is still a terrific value. The only other Hard top convert. is the SL500. I had one as I stated in a previous post. It was better in several areas, but not 40K better which was thwe cost difference.
Has this guy actually bought the 2003 at 2500 off? They are in the business of sales. The price on the phone is often to get you into the showroom. Once you arrive, all of a sudden that price is for a particular color available only on Mondays and only in Alaska at mid-day. Or, I really thought I could get get you that price, but my manager says I will get fired if I write it up that way. etc. etc. etc. I have had more cars in the past 3 years than most people have had in their lifetime-not a brag, actually an addiction-cured now I hope. I am on my 3rd SC430. I have had every MB model made, as well as every BMW (except for the Z8, I never wanted one)and truly the SC430 overall represents the best value of any car I have owned.

There are two other retractable hardtop convertibles, the SL500 and the SLK, both by MB.
Cadillac will be putting one on the market (in the $75,000 range) in about 18 months from now.
Then there will be 4, nicely spaced apart in price. From what I know so far, the SC is now and will be, even after Caddy enters the market, the best value.

I have had both the 2003 SL500-Great Car as wel as the SLK 320 and the SLK 32. Nice cars, German ride, but either overpriced or tiny.
So far the SC 430 is a keeper. Il let you kno win a month or so.
