Default Greetings

Hello everyone. My name is Tom and I live in Maryland. I have two SC430's, both 2005 models...one in silver and one in gold. Both are low mileage cars and drive like a dream. I have had these cars for over a year now. I've been peeking at the forums for the past two years and have found them very useful. I look forward to more interaction with fellow SC430 owners. I have included pics from last year when I bought the gold car. Don't have pics of the silver one on this computer, although it's equally sweet.

Hello, I got this a couple weeks ago after stalking this forum for months. Found a decent deal on this 2004 at 114k miles here in Miami. Previous owner maintained it well, but still lots of stuff needs to get done to it over time. It's fun to drive and the top still works great. Already replaced the ignition cylinder, I can see my $ disappearing quickly into this thing. If anyone knows a trust worthy lexus mechanic down here let me know, thanks.

Ignition lock cylinder, where you put the key into start the car.

The best Lexus mechanic is usually a toyota dealer... I did the timing belt replacement through a toyota dealer and saved significantly on my car.

Got it. How many key you are having? Just don’t lose your only master key.

Only got one right now, but plan on getting another soon and having door locks rekeyed.

Default 2002 absolutely red/ecru

I bought this car in the spring during the start of the pandemic from a local Toyota dealer for $13k. Marked down from $16999, lol. It had 97k miles, great condition for a car manufactured in October 2001. This was one of the early ones. The ecru leather needed some polishing up, but everything worked. I say worked because I got a cd stuck in the changer that stopped working the first week I owned it. Other than that, the headlight washers don't work. I love the car though. If anything happens to it, I plan on replacing with another sc430 or a is350c.

Welcome to the forum.
These CD changers don't like burnable CDs or ones with labels on them. Apparently they are too thick. There are a few threads on extracting CDs that are stuck, though it kind of depends on the problem.
  • For the typical "my CDROM is stuck", you just press the eject button and hit the dash or the console on the side of the radio with your palm (don't go crazy here though) and typically that is enough to jolt it loose.
  • For the kind that are just stuck beyond the usual jolting them out, there are instructions how to take the headunit apart, remove the CDs and repair the mechanism.
Sounds like you got a good one. Enjoy the fall top down weather.

Default Welcome

I am looking at a 2006 with 26,000 miles. I went and test drove it today and it had a slight shimmy above 60 mph. The owner told me he had replaced the tires and had new struts installed at the local Lexus dealer to correct the problem. However it did not fix it. I saw the receipts for the work. I told him I would not take it unless he fixed it. He has agreed to do so. Any suggestions from the peanut gallery as to what I should do?
Thanks,
Scott Bye

Default New to club

Hello! I recently acquired my second Lexus, the first being a champagne and tan 2013 hybrid sedan, and my newest to me being a 2002 black/black sc430 with tinted headlights, custom exhaust, fiaa racing wheels, premium original sound etc.
I'm excited about this car as it drives like a Lexus but performs, well, also like a Lexus 🥰
That said, I'm new to the car club community. We are in PDX in the pacific northwest.
