Got it home....finally.
I am back with the "new" SC-430 Virtually flawless. 29 mpg over 1400 miles to get it home. Needs tires (low profile tires ride like a buckboard) and I will get wheels as I don't like the stock wheels. The 177,000 mile struts need replacement...LOL. Other than that and some paint issues on the front bumper, which I knew about before I bought it, it is perfect.
Silver with Saddle interior.
In the interest of full disclosure I do not currently own a Lexus but...
I have had a couple of Lexus models (ES and LX) - both now sold.
In the larger family I have owned 2 Camry's, 3 4 Runners, 1 FJ Cruiser, 2 MR2s, and a Tacoma. Currently hold title to an Avalon hybrid and Heritage Edition Land Cruiser. Edit: forgot I also had another Land Cruiser (2017) and a Prius V.
I joined for two reasons:
1) I am (hopefully) close to closing on a purchase of an Absolute Red 2002 SC430, one owner, ~100K miles, excepting maintenance or repair items I thinks it's unchanged from the day it was delivered.
2) Found this forum to be a great source of info and knowledge concerning the SC430 which I obviously lack.

I recently bought a silver 2003 sc430 , black interior and about 85,000 miles. Loving the car and really loving all the info in this forum. Already used tips from here to knock more than half the items off my punch list! So many easy fixes! Fixed the stereo cover (disassembled and found loose wire, replaced gas lifters to hold trunk up, just rebuilt one of the Levinson woofers, installled an Alexa auto (w/cassette deck connection) to get Bluetooth & usb power, turned headlight spritzers right side up(they were upside down!), probably a couple of other things, but these were all great and learned here(ok, Alexa auto was my idea, but never would have snaked wires if I didn’t discover how easily center console comes apart!). Did the foam replacement on all 5 woofer/subwoofer type speakers and it was much easier than expected to pull all of the speakers out for replacement. Wouldn't/Couldn't have done it without all the awesome guides in this forum! What a difference it made. almost 20 year old speaker foams were definitely shot and in need of replacement/rebuild!
I did have a shop replace a lower ball joint and a tie rod and did an alignment and now I’m trying to figure out if I’ll just replace 2 tires or go for all 4 with run flats. Need to figure out if braking shaking is from warped front brake drum or just badly worn front tires).
Anybody ever have to fix the inner release handle to fold passenger seat forward? The seat release near the door works, but the one in the center for the driver to release passenger seat doesn’t work. Is that an easy fix too? It just seems disconnected and want a clue before I try to start pulling the seat apart. Will I need parts? Is this common? Should I just live with it?
