Took me long enough, but I finally got it. Needs some TLC but that was expected. Not the best picture. rained most of the way from near Miami to Melbourne (about 200 road miles).

2002 - I'm the 2nd owner - newly parked in my driveway.

That's a good one! Keeping those wheels or swapping them out?

For the moment keeping them. Other needful things are reaching for my wallet.

I have to go through the stereo and figure out which path I want to follow.

The existing Firestone run flats were abused. Driver didn't seem to notice when he had been driving around that there was no air in right front. I drove a bit and knew I needed to find an air hose. Tire gauge read zero. Tire seems to be holding air - maybe someone pranked him? Probably a visit to the Michelin Man is in store.

Only factory tint on the windows. Seeing as the car will be living outside in the Florida sun I want more protection. Still undecided about a whole car cover.

Some relatively minor leather work (see window tint above), but it will bug me every time I open the door until it gets fixed. Problems here are mostly on seat back for driver and the semi-normal rear seat headrest coverings pulling away and exposing foam.

Then maybe...TBD

Welcome to the club/forum...your SC looks great! The wheels aren't bad, and they actually mimic the character of the SC styling well as they are rounded and bulbous. Dump the run flats and go up to a 245/40 (from 245/40) size tire for better comfort.

Yes.

Along with a good paint prep job followed by a ceramic. Just need to weather to cooperate a bit (and it's not).

Hi all, just purchased a 2001 sc430 in beautiful ESP. It has 20 inch wheels and a modified exhaust but otherwise stock. 189kms.

I bought it unseen with a mechanical check. Unfortunately when it arrived i found it is hesitating badly under acceleration and sluggish around 2-4k rpm. I have ordered a new MAF of rockauto and am hoping this cures it. I bought an ancel bd310 obd2 scanner but it wasn’t able to connect.

I’m looking forward to cleaning car, polishing the headlights and refoaming speakers. I also bought a bluetooth thing from scmods.

cheers and looking forward to learning more about these beauties

Congrats on your SC and welcome to the Club!

Don't "hesitate" to ask the forum about issues before throwing parts at your problems. There are a lot of knowledgeable and experienced people in the forum who may be able to advise you.

For critical parts like MAF and other sensors, I would always seek out true-OEM, Lexus/Toyota brand parts.

Good luck with your new acquisition!

Welcome to the club. Before you do anything, try to reset your ECU.

Hopefully this will solve your problem.

Welcome,
I had some hesitation issues, found a tread here about how to clean the MAF and other critical components of the air intake system and after an hours work she was running smooth. I also run Techron every 3000 miles.

Thanks all. Yes i have read some of the threads already and appreciate the advice.

I tried the reset to no avail. It might just be bad fuel that needs to be worked through i’m on tank 2 with cleaner.

Have ordered denso MAF. Happy to replace many things like this and sensors to keep car reliable for longterm. Planning to get intake cleaned as well as replace plugs and any easy items like pcv at 200k (or soon if MAF doens’t solve!). She is having a big 20th birthday soon!

Will let you know how it goes!

Yep, absolutely mandatory here in FL.

New denso MAF and its like a totally different car. Must have been really bad because car was sloth like and getting 13mpg. Now she chirps wheels exiting T junctions and is very positive. I’m very relieved it was such a simple fix. Old MAF couldn’t see platinum wires and one side of temp sensor was caked..

Have cleaned and polished and am enjoying the honeymoon.

I married my SC430 six years ago and the honeymoon hasn't ended yet...I fall in love all over again every time I drive it!

Glad you got yours running well without too much trouble.

No pressure/completely up to you, but if you were so inclined and have time, forum members always welcome pictures of old and new parts, and documentation of your procedures, parts prices, etc., as it helps others in addressing similar problems.
