Same thing happened to me...the motor was shot. I bought a "donor" mirror, opened it up and got the motor, then opened the mirror on the car without removing it from the car. Works great now. I got instructions for disassembly by searching.

Same here...only it was the driver's side. Had the mirror replaced under CPO warranty which otherwise would have run about $600 installed. Only issue I've had so far in four months of ownership. Good luck with it.

Check out this thread.
The mirror motors are the weakest link in this car. It is for that reason I have the mirror control set to the middle position, so that the mirror motors don't run every time I put the car into reverse.
And yes, this can be repaired without removing the mirror housing from the car. Takes less than an hour.

Lexus doesn't sell repair parts for the mirror. They only sell whole mirrors. I got a damaged mirror on fleabay where the casing had damage, but the guts were fine. I looked on fleabay and see there is currently a damaged casing mirror for $19.99 with 3 days left on the bidding. Just search on "SC430 mirror". I used the donor mirror to familiarize myself how to open it up before touching my mirror on the car. Once these mirrors are snapped together, they aren't intended to be parted for service, so they used some blind clips that don't come apart easily. Once I knew where the blind clip was, I used a dremel tool to cut it on the car. It wasn't needed to keep the halves together. This was explained in the thread by Pearlpower https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc-...de-mirror.html.

Sometimes they are only stuck. Need to exercise it. Toggle it up down, side ways and then try again.
