Default Center Console Storage

In the center console storage, lower compartment, there are some slots/grooves towards the back. I assume that one of the slots is for a divider of some sorts. Does anyone know what these are for? Is there an accessory designed for this location?

Not sure about the "slot" but it does have a false bottom. Under the bottom liner you'll find the manual release, one of the loop wires for the trunk and sliding roof.

I assumed those slots were for cd's? The gaps look about the size of a cd case.

I am aware of the false bottom. My first thought also was that it was for an extra CD cartridge. Of course the SC doesn't use cartridges, but I had one and tried it anyway. The storage compartment is too wide to accommodate it.

The slots are just the right size for 6 full-size CD jewel cases...for the 6 CD's that are in the changer.

That makes sense. I never would consider keeping the empty cases in the car so it didn't occur to me that is what it would be for. I tried the nuggets but the BBQ sauce dripped and made a stain. Now I need to get the steam cleaner.

Thanks.

I used to think it is designed to secure an optional device called ETC (electronic toll collection system) in Japan that is useless for the US market.

I just checked where Lexus Japan actually puts the ETC device in the SC430 and it turns out to be in the front, so CD jewel cases make more sense to me, too.

I think it's made for the CD cases too.

I considered that also. I installed a system like my wife has in her GX but my son would start crying everytime I opened the roof and the screen would go away.
