This is my 2009 stock airbox. Does it look similar to previous years?

I have been reading on Intakes, some have applied insulation tapes on their intakes. I must say the Injen tube is quite hot so there is a lot of heat soaking going on.

I have seen when they have wrapped the whole intake tube with insulating tape, not pretty looking but is well worth it if it helps with the heat soaking.

A true Cold Air Intake is the way to go and maybe somebody can do one for the SC.

In the meantime, let's insulate the intake to lessen heat soak.

What do you think?

I know it will ruin how it looks like, but if it will help, I would do it.

I drive mine around with no problem… If you aren’t competing, I can’t see the benefit…

I guess I'm getting old @ 39 cause I keep reading how it sounds like a vette or a mustang and I have had both and had aftermarket exhausts on both and can say I would NEVER want this car to sound like them! I think that's why many are disappointed with the performance of this car. Their expectations are different than the cars design. It does 98% of what my M3 did but is MUCH nicer on a daily basis.
Rant over.

The Injen only adds some growl under heavy throttle! On normal driving, you can't really tell it's there.

A Vette or Mustang with aftermarket exhaust is much louder than an SC with an Injen intake believe me.... Nothing to compare.

Default Thanks for the help

Joined today. You all have been a great help.

I saw some questions regarding if the Injen will fit onto a 2008 SC430. Can can confirm 100% that it fits, and sounds great too.

After living with the injen intake after about four months on my 2005 SC with no other engine mods I will tell you that I think the sound is amazing and I see a small increase in torque/power in the 3-5k rpm bands. Gas mileage is the same or worse which I have been punching it more so that makes sense.

Power increase especially noticeable with traction off and in manual mode. The really deep growl (I would never compare to a modded vette or mustang, but maybe a stock rumble!) comes when you punch it from lower band rpm's. I have had a lof of fun with people listening with their top down or windows down and I stomp it. They always look!

+1 on the M3 comparo. I've got a good friend with a E46 2005 M3 and I love the handling, the SMG shifter, the looks but the interior is crap compared to the SC. I had another friend with a 1985 328 and it looks almost identical inside 20 years newer! Same A/C and stereo *****...yuk! I guess Germans don't care too much for ergonomics and fit/finish on in the interior unless you are buying an S class, A8 or 750? It's a shame. I feel the same way about a 911 interior too. Love the cars, performance, looks but interior is so drab and industrial looking.

Default Removing Rear Seat in a SC430

I'm new to Club Lexus and just beginning to make modifications to my 2004 SC430 starting with the Ingen Air Intake and exhaust. Greatly appreciate everyone's input. I was curious to know if anyone has replaced their rear seat with a back deck instead? Are there any kits available that you've heard of?

There are no off the shelf seat conversion kits. They used to sell a leather cover with compartments for storage, but it was discontinued years ago. You can do a custom conversion. A couple of people have used their rear seat areas to install speakers. A custom upholstery shop can probably do whatever you want. But it'll be expensive.

You wil dig the Injen. FYI, it was more work to remove the factory air box than installing the Injen intake. Lots more room in there now as well.
