Injen Short Ram Intake Install Buggin' Me
#166
if i remember correctly from previous posts, i need hose clamps right? i think... is there anything else I should be aware of? other than socket extenders too.
Someone said 2006+ models may need to plug one of the holes on the injen tube. i guess i should start looking into getting something to plug it .
I installed a KN intake on my 06 chevy colorado with ease. I'd imagine it couldnt be that much more difficult on the SC. haha

Suggest you get 1" and a size bigger. It is not expensive but worth it to have in case you decide to use a bigger size.
And it is straight forward. Follow the DIY on some of the threads and the literature that comes with the Injen.
Good luck and post pics.

Like some said earlier, it is much easier to read these online instructions than the ones they send you.

I got a 2009 and I started pulling my hair out trying to find the OBD canister and sensor... after staring at the picture, and staring under my hood, for about 20 minutes then i realize I dont have one. (just like other member's 2006 years) So don't be alarmed, you may not have a OBD canister and sensor
I used zipties until i get hose clamps tomorrow. I also ran the hose underneath the engine cover and then plugged it with a giant *** bolt that was lying around my house. then ziptied that. (it should work?)
after i bolted everything down, i started it up, let it idle for about 10 minutes while i cleaned up. Then took it on a 10 mile test drive under the moonlight to see if the Check engine light would come on. Seems like the SC agrees with the upgrade cause the light did not come on yet!
Absolutely love the sound this thing makes at about 3,000RPMs and above!
I am a little concerned about under hood temperatures because this engine seems to get pretty hot... so i opened this passage way like mandyfig.
Thanks to everyone's post because it helped me with my install for sure.
Good luck to anyone else who wants to install an intake on their SC430, you will love it.
Found the Intake at this website and they ship for free to hawaii!!! I couldn't believe it, but yes, I didn't pay for shipping to the 50th state. http://thmotorsports.com/injen/injen...p/i-36183.aspx

Looks like you did not bother to trim your engine cover. Was that by design?

Wow! great job. One hour, $200 bucks and a great sound and cool look is the outcome! I'd say (once again) the Injen Mod is one of the best bang-for-your-buck mods on the SC!
On the heat issue-I live in Texas, which is just north of Hell as far as heat goes. I bought the heat shield but it severely muffles the wonderful robust sound so I'll be removing mine. It's not worth the money but it does look cool and I can clearly see how it deflects the heat a little.

Haha i guess your black hood and Texas heats can't compare to my white hood and 85-degree-average tropical temperatures
I probably shouldn't worry about it too much then

I noticed the stock air box has a duct that appeared to use the radiator fan to blow heated air from the radiator into the air filter. Hard to imagine that the ambient air temp under the hood would be as hot or hotter than air from the radiator.

Good. Nice deep growl, you like it? Extra gas but worth it.

C gate shifting as scdroptop says! Fun!
