Hi,
My Navi system was working OK with the original disc that came with the car years ago, I just bought a new disc ver. 10.1 Manufacturer P/N 86271-33039 for Gen 2/3 system. After it updated and then it says " incorrect program disc please insert proper disc" I remove disc and put it back in and it says "no disc detected", I removed and installed new disc few times and same results.
So I decided to put the old original disc back in and now the system says " disc read error check disc".
I know once you updated the system to the new version of DVD your old original disc will not work anymore, but I heard that you can downgrade your Navi system so it can read the old disc ?? Does anyone know how to do this ??
Thanx

i had an issue were it gave me the japanesse screen of death. i bought this fix it cd that updated my system from 3.1 to 7.1 and i am using it as a map drive instead of my oem cd. i got it for $50 maybe it will fix your issue. also maybe your reader is not good. try getting a dvd rom cleaner and see if it helps. also check the back of the cd and make sure there is no scratches of dust. last thing to do is call the compnay you bought the cd from and get a new one

call up a local lexus dealer and ask about it. also the navi disc you bought, i could in all be the right one, but if it's a copy or a non-dealer disc, it won't operate
this should be the part number for your year/model
PT219-GEN23-09

Try disconnecting the battery first. Reconnect, install the old disk and see if it works. The newer Nav disks don't contain a piece of software that is on the old disk

I replaced my 2002 navigation system several years ago while in Chicago. Now that I have moved to Dallas, it won't let me enter addressing in my current region even though I changed the region to US5. Is it a disk issue?
According to the Map DVD info, I have a vers 09.1 disk but how do I determine what generation player I have? I keep seeing references online to Gen 2/3. How do I know what I have?

When you say "replaced" do you mean got a new disc or actually replaced the NAV ECU in the trunk?
Your 2002 came from the factory with a Gen 2/3 system. If a previous owner upgraded it they could only go up to a Gen 4 system like I did. (There was no compatible Gen 5 for SC430s and the current Gen 6 would not work.
As far as I know you can only tell by looking at the unit itself, which mean pulling out the trunk garnish as the face plate where the disc is inserted looks the same on the Gen 4 and the Gen 2/3 models. Then you can get the part number off the unit. 86841-47020 is the part number for Gen 2/3 units and for Gen 4 its 86841-50090.

Sewell, get an 09 or 08 DVD for $100. The 2010 will cost nearly $200.

before buying a 200 disc do the gen 4 upgrade most likely youll get a disc so just try to get a computer from a car newer in years than your disc and you should be pretty happy. i didnt notice much of a difference from 7.1 to 10.1 in my area on my sc430 but for the is250 it was well worth it (dont have to hit i agree anymore).
