Default Door Speaker Aftermarket options???

Has anyone found some nice aftermarket speakers to replace the Mark Levinson Door Speakers with? I found a kit to mount regular 6.5" speakers onto the Mark Levinson 6 x 9 frame but now I need to choose some nice 8-ohm 6.5" speakers. If anyone has had good luck with some I'd appreciate some help!

I tried for months because I didn't want to spend the $375 for factory replacements. Problem is the odd size, narrow depth and the ohm issue. The ML system is a home system adapted for auto specs. Regular car speakers are a different ohm. I was told that missmatched ohms will cause the amp to burn out faster.

Default SC430 Blown Speakers

I've been looking into it quite a bit as well. Seems like the options are:

1) Try to repair the existing speakers with a kit from Simply Speakers or with a tube of silicone sealant. The consensus seems to be the existing speakers are pretty crummy so this does not seem to be the best option IMO.

2) Find a 6 x 9 replacement that will mount exactly like the Mark Levinson Speakers. The existing speakers seem to be 8-ohm so you should stick with that and not try 4 ohm speakers. (One option are the DC Gold 6x9 N69C. These speakers are pretty pricey and I've read mixed reviews of their quality)

3) Find a kit that will allow you to mount a 6.5" speaker in place of the 6 x 9 Mark Levinson speaker. Here is a link on EBAY

There are a lot more options here in terms of speakers so I'm inclined to try this route. I'm just trying to determine which speakers to go with in terms of best bang for the buck!

If anyone has successfully tried any of these with great success those of us still working on it would love to hear about it. Thanks in advance for taking the time to help out your fellow SC430 owners!

Default 6.5 inch speaker option to replace Door Speakers

Just found this link on Parts Express ... If you go down to the first review it is a Lexus Owner that is happy with these in a SC430. I think I will try these and report back how I do!

Here is a 6x9 8 ohm. I don't know how good they are. I think the depth is good. Good price. The speakers we have are in fact mid bass speakers.

I was successful in replacing both of the Door Speakers with the Tang Band W6-789E 6-1/2" Woofer from Parts Express. I used the adaptors mentioned in the Post above from Ebay to mount the 6 1/2" speakers in place of the old 6 x 9" mark Levinsons. Everything worked pretty well .... only issue was the adaptor would not mount flush because the speakers where a tad large. I had to find longer screws to get it to work out.

I'm very happy with the sound but I'm no audiophile ... I'm just glad to have some bass again!
