Default If I dont want stagger rims setup, can i go with...

hi all,

i know a lot of sc here uses staggered rims setup front and rear with bigger dish lips and wider rims in the rears.

i m a fan of dish lips, but i would like the lip sizes to look the same front and rear.

my question is:

can i go 20 x 9.5 35 mm offset for the front and 20 x 9.5 25 mm offset for the rear? has anyone tried this or is using this setup?

for this setup, do i need to use not as wide tires for the front for easier turning? i was thinking maybe 245 for the front and 275 for the rear?

i looked at the sticky on top of forum regarding wheel fitment but couldnt find any setup like this.

any info would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Ricky

I saw SC owner with 19x9.5 +22mm all around with 255/35/19. I believe you need +28mm & lower offset to fit the front as the front tire's inner side are very close to suspension. +35mm for a 9.5 rim might cause rub with the front suspension. The rear is fine

you should use same tire size for front and back since its not staggered. it would look stretched int he front with 245 while the rear look just fit. 255 & 265 looks good on 9.5 rim. For 20" you might want 255/30/20 or 265/30/20

ordered my wheel & I'm putting 225/40/19x8.5 +32mm Front and 265/35/19x10 +35mm Rear.

Hi grabber2,

in this case, for the setup i want should i use:

20 x 9.5 with 25mm offset all around? or
20 x 9.5 with 25mm for the front and 20 x 9.5 with 35mm for the rear?

Thanks
Ricky

i only have 18" rims with 245X40 tires with 19mm on all 4 corners. 8" front and 9" rear.

Yes, 20X 9.5 with 25mm seems fine with 255/30 or 265/30 series tire

here may give you an idea of a 9.5 with +22mm offset look on a SC430 . But this is 19" not 20",

I might be wrong (please correct if I am), but I think the issue is the 35mm offset WITH the 9.5" wide wheels. The standard is 8" wide with 45 mm offset. If you increase the wheel to 9.5", that's another 38 mm, or 19 mm on either side. To keep the wheel centered, you'd neet to take 19mm from the standard offset, so 26mm. If you use the 35 mm offset, you're actually moving the wheel back inwards by 9 mm, which makes it closer to the suspension. Is that right? So in this case, 25 mm offset all around would work better?

i think what you explained make sense, so it looks like i m better off with 25mm due to the suspension clearance. thanks ricky

Exactly!! +25mm on the 9.5 rim is like pushing 39mm outward where it won;t cause rub with the suspension. However, there's a limit that you can push it out. 40mm seem to be the limit (Front) without modication/fender roll and tire choice also play role on rubbing. 255/35/20 might cause rub where 255/30/20 should work just fine like the black Sc on the above link

Bad news,

the store only has the 20 x 9.5 25mm offset and 20 x 9.5 35mm offset left. so i guess i have to stick with these setup. maybe adding a spacer would help?

Buy online and get what you want. It'll probably be cheaper and you'll have a lot more to choose from than your local tire and wheel store.

Great:

so i bought the rims in 20 x9.5 25mm and 20 x 9.5 35mm. Tires are 255/30/20 all around, and i will add spacers if i have clearance problem.

Now i m gonna think about lowering my car next.

Thanks for all the info,
Ricky

Congrat!! what rim you bought? brand & model?

just be sure to check for front clearance. try adding a 5mm spacer first. post pics on the thread I show you above
