2 weeks ago i get a check engine light with vsc lights. it turned out to be an o2 sensor. and when this happened i realized that when i rev the car. usually i get a loud drone exhaust sounds from 1 -2k rpm.( i took off the muffler thats why i have the drone). now i only hear it between 2-3k and its less pronounced. i switched the o2 and i figured it will fix it and the car would go back to its old self. but its still the same. what can this be? btw checked the old o2 and it was gone .

the new O2 sensor installed took care of the check engine and vsc lights? If so, you could unplug the battery I believe for 30 minutes to reset the system to see if that helps.

Also, did you add anything new or just remove the existing muffler? If you added new parts (new muffler, new resonator), they take some time to 'break in', and may sound different than when first installed.

the drone your getting is from you removing the muffler it will not go away unless you put a muffler on that will not cause a drone. nothing you can do about it. i have the same drone, when my exhaust system comes in i should not have the drone. its no muffler causing the drone........

After i installed it on sunday my mechanic cleared the code. the next day it came on again. he cleared it but i still have vsc lights on.


and for the drone what i am saying is i dont care that its there. its just i used to hear it at 1-2 rpm now i only get it when i hit high 2k - 3k .

btw forgot to mention but my gas millage dropped dramaticly . i am guessing my car is running lean

i do not think your running lean from removing the muffler.
you have another problem. i run without a muffler and no problem.

First, you need to find out why your car is throwing an O2 code and get it fixed. Removing the muffler will not throw a code if done correctly.

Once your car is running without codes, then you can see if drone goes back to 1-2rpm.

i removed just the muffler didnt touch the resonators. i had my o2 removed and checked out and it was dead . i put in a new o2 sensor but like i said the car feels like there is something messed up. can it be a vacum hose or something in that line?
