Did some more checking on commonality between the two circuits: both share grounds at the following points: II, BL and BP, where BP is ground connection on the LH quarter panel behind the tail lamp assembly.

Because of the new LED light install, I think this is a distinct possibility.

Where did the new LEDS go? That will help us determine what might have been disconnected. If they were taillights, that makes this even more likely.

If you need into your trunk, or to open the gas lid, there are manual handles for that.

You can open your trunk from the bottom of your glove compartment. There is a little flap that opens revealing a cable pull. Once you are in the trunk, I think there is a release for the gas lid

Yep, inside the trunk, kind of hidden from view, behind the same left rear taillight assembly velcroed to the garish wall. Only thing different on mine, no pretty pictograph of a gas pump, just a plain black handle with a thin nylon cord attached.

The battery reads 12.5 Volts withe car off, 14 Volts with it on. So, I will start checking the ground issue -- since it seems like the battery is good.

When there is an issue “talking” to the luggage area J/B and if you have a DTC reader you should get a B1263 trouble code to confirm it.

As many times as I have disassembled the trunk, I totally forgot about this. Thanks for the refresh!

You didn't mention where you had LED work done, but if it were in the glove box area, you might find that the valet switch is not actually plugged in. If the harness isn't plugged in, the valet switch will act as if you have it on.

The loud beep you heard is a pretty good indicator that the car registered your attempt, but disallowed it.

I learned something new today and had no clue this even existed…i was putting the trunk interior back together after i had the new shocks installed and found the fuel door manual release.
The cable in the center console is the trunk manual open
