Default Why Recirculated Air?

My air system almost always defaults to recirculated air; I like fresh air coming through the vents, whether I am using AC or not. I tend to set the temperature to 68 without the AC and around 71 when using the AC, but whenever I start the engine I always have to press the airflow button to get the airflow off recirculate. If I keep the thermostat at 72 degrees it will stay on fresh air, but that is usually too hot for me. Is there a way to keep airflow on fresh air as opposed to recirculated without keeping the temperature setting up so high?

Depends on the external temp. If it's too hot outside, the only way it can keep it cool is to recirculate the air it has already cooled. For example, it's not possible for it to instantly cool 95 degree air to 68 degrees.

It's annoying, but it works best that way. Recirculated will generate colder air on very hot days.

Side note: I also dislike how the VSC On is the default, it's annoying to turn it off every time I drive.

Anyone notice that you have to push the "I agree" button on the Nav each time? I really hate that.

Sorry, could'nt resist.

Agreed. A crazy Saturday night with a blasting radio doesn't mix well when I start the car for church early on a Sunday morning.

Thank you all for the replies. I was hoping for some trick to override the Lexus brains. If I had the air system in the Auto mode, I could see it doing what is necessary to cool down the car the fastest way, but I just want to leave the unit on in the fresh air mode (with the air conditioning usually off because of the mild climate where I live). Oh well, I love just about everything else with the car so I can push the fresh air button each time I start the car.

RedLiner8...No default volume setting is a nuisance too...
I have an '02 that I stored the volume level on the steering wheel. I just touch the "set" button and the volume is reset to my default volume. That may eliminate one of your complaints.
