Default SC430 radio wiring question

Hi!

I've been searching and searching this forum but haven't found an answer to my question. Those of you who have changed to an aftermarket stereo, how have you wired the new stereo to the car? Have you used an ISO wiring "thingy" (do not know the correct word in English, perhaps "adapter" would be right...) or what? I've been searching to find this kind of a wiring harness, but I saw a picture of the backside of an original radio of an SC430 and the pieces didn't seem to fit those that I found when searching for an ISO adapter for an SC430 and comparing the pictures. If anyone has any clue of what I'm talking about, any answers and information would be most welcome, as well as pictures, especially a good picture from the wiring in the car and the back side of the original radio.

Thank you!

Adapters are common when changing out the head units, though I am not sure just how available they are for the ML unit we have. There have been a handful of guys who have changed out the unit on this forum. Hopefully we can get a response out of one of them. (There are some old threads about them if you do a search.)

Thank you for the answers. skitzo, would it be possible to get pictures from your installation? What stereo did you use? And could it be possible to get a picture from the back of the new stereo as well to see what kind of wiring fits there? Did you need any other wiring between the radio and the wiring in the link or was it just a simple plug-in?

At least the text behind the link skitzo gave says that the navigation should work. What I'm also interested to know is how is it supposed to work since the wiring kit has no ISO-adapter, which is what is found behing the aftermarket stereos. Or am I totally wrong on this?

Actually, I just realized that the 1 kit I heard of before is the beat-sonic. More info here: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc-...n-sc430-2.html. I'd be nice to have a How-To. Here is is on ebay too: http://cgi.ebay.com/Double-Din-Insta...8#ht_500wt_842.

Desc.:
"Compatibility:
2002-2005 Lexus SC430 models without Mark Levinson Sound System and with factory navigation.

If this kit is used with SC430 models with Mark Levinson, the factory screen/navigation will work but the audio will not. Another interface adapter will have to be used in conjunction with this kit for proper function of all audio controls on models with Mark Levinson."

I could careless about the Nav audio, but I would like the steering wheel controls to still work. Is the SC430 in Finland have Mark Levinson sound?

Just did some reading, and the kit that skitzo linked (http://www.beatsonicusa.com/stereo/s...956e067487c8e3) seems to be a bit different from the one that is on ebay. The one in this link is named MVA-11L, where as the one on Ebay is simply MVA-11. The description with the L-model says:

"For 2002-2010 Lexus SC430 with Mark Levinson Sound and with factory navigation."
and
"Retain the functions of your factory navigation and screen. "

I'm guessing this is an updated product?

The SC430s in Finland do have Mark Levinson and the navigator, so this one would be perfect.

But still, at least all the stereos that I've seen have had the ISO-adapter and this kit doesn't seem to have one, I am perplexed...

I do not mean to repeat myself, but do the stereos in the USA (for example) Alpine have an ISO adapter? I mean the end of the wiring that you stick into the radio. A simple question since no-one seems to mention the ISO.

Yes, there's a wiring harness that connects to the back of CD/DVD players. When I've done installs before, I usually need to cut and splice the wires from the player's harness to connect with the car's speakers.

Here's a Pioneer for example (actually the one I want ):

The wires that are in the lowest picture, they have the black "box" on the other end but do they have anything in the other? Here we usually have "boxes" in both ends, so first you have a wire from the back of the stereo (like the wires you have in the picture) but it is divided into two boxes in the other end (called an ISO adapter), like this:

and then you need a wire that has an ISO adapter (i.e. the two boxes) in one end and the "boxes" matching the car's wiring, for example this one for a toyota:

This way you don't need to split any wires.

Here's a shorter address for it. (If you have questions about it, just contact the vendor.)

Hello, this is Eric from Beat-Sonic USA.

To clarify, we have two different kits for SC430 models:

MVA-11 and MVA-11L.

MVA-11 is for installers who are planning to redo the car's stereo system and not utilize the factory amplifier. For example, installers who are going to install new aftermarket amplifiers with new speakers will want to use this kit. The factory navigation turn by turn prompt will remain working as long as 1 oem speaker that is connected to the factory amplifier is kept in the car.

MVA-11L is for installers who is looking to retain the use of the factory amplifier. Installation is very simple and is 100% plug and play. Retains the use of all factory navigation controls and turn by turn voice prompt.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Does the MVA-11L still allow use of the steering wheel controls?
