Viper website has it for $599. Amazon has it for $219. That's a good deal. Cheaper than Luxlinx.

That's awesome, I spent my luxlink $$ on the new wheel/tire. its good to know there's another option for auto start with remote top open/close function. Someone might want to look into this.

Correct me if I am wrong please, but the real allure of the Luxlink is that it works with the Lexus key, not an additional remote. Nothing else on the keychain was a draw for me. Well, that and just because I COULD!

Although shot down by this guy I know, I have always thought that a "poor man's Luxlink" could be made by having a relay hooked up to the top switch. When activated, the relay circuit would depress for X seconds, simulating someone actually pushing the button. Total cost, about $20 + remote.
One of the problems with this idea is that the car has to be ON -- the "top down" button doesn't work if you press it while the car is off.
I don't know "Mister Music" (although he might be related to our Mister Blister) but it kinda seems like that is what they have done. Note that the car is started before they try to put down the top. Also note that they have to press two buttons in sequence before the top will go down. My guess is that they are pressing the "FUNCTION" button on the Viper remote (which can modify other buttons) and then pressing the Viper TRUNK RELEASE button.
I agree it is nice for anyone who did not get in on the LuxLink production run (although I've heard there are a few units left), but it seems like an ugly step-sister to me. Luxlink one button, single press on the OEM key sure beats using the huge Viper remote and having to start car, then press FUNCTION, then press TRUNK RELEASE, and then finding your OEM key so you can drive the car.

One major advantage of luxlink is changing the function of the dash button. A double press of the button will raise/lower the roof without having to hold the button. I use that feature every time I'm done driving and the roof is down. Would the Viper have that feature? Also, having used Luxlink for over 3 years flawlessly, I can vouch for its reliability.
