Default Remove O2 Sensor Help

I need to replace my O2 sensor but can't remove the old one. I bought a crow's foot O2 socket for it and sprayed it with PB Blaster and let it sit for about 10 minutes without any luck. I was thinking of putting a pipe on the end of my wrench to get more leverage. Will anything bad happen if I apply too much pressure to get it off? Any other recommendations? A shop said they will charge $40 to replace it for me, which isn't bad, but it seems so easy that I want to do it myself.

Leverage is the answer. Good luck!

In a worse case scenario, if the threads in the exhaust manifold pipes strip, then they have to be replaced. I had this problem on my Toyota Highlander and took it to the dealer. After a half day in the shop they called and said I had to replace the exhaust pipes. I said no, picked up the car and took it to another shop. They broke it loose in about 10 minutes. Good Luck!

I'd only add some heat to the exhaust pipe to expand the fittings a little.

Heat is an alternative to break bolts loose. Can exercise caution when using heat or open flame.

Heating by running the engine for a few minutes, or by using a torch? (i dont have a torch, but maybe a butane lighter would work? lol)

I just went through this with the front drivers side oxygen sensor. I ended up stripping the hex, so I had to take the manifold off. By the time I drilled and chiseled out the old sensor, my threads were damaged. I had to weld in a new bung.

I tried heating it with a propane torch but looking back I think it needed more heat.

I gladly pay someone $40.00 to change one.

So I'm guessing my small butane lighter won't do the trick? lol I need to get under my car for something else, so I'll attempt 1 more time then take it to a shop if unsuccessful.

Thanks all for the advice!
