No way that 2005 was worth that kind of money !

I agree, but other dealers are getting the same kind of money for similar cars. The supply of these cars is very limited. I actually bought the car for my wife but I drove it a couple of times and it seem very underpowered to me. The car has a perfect maintenance record on the dealer's web site. Is there anything I need to do to such as replacing plug or coils, etc, to make it move better? The car supposedly has around 300 hps --- relative the moderate weight, it should move pretty good.

The SC430 is not really a sports car, it is a sporty luxury car. That being said, it has some idiosyncrasies that are annoying when it comes to performance. There are several threads that deal with the engine lag and the crazy way that the ECU "learns" how you drive and adjusts (downward) performance to it to achieve better mpg, I guess. You can easily reset the ECU and bring it to a much more responsive performance level (see afore mentioned threads), or set it to performance on the three position button on the console. Others have added the Sprint Booster (or others) that helps get rid of the lag.

Otherwise, there are lots of suggestions from little to big on this forum. Use the search feature to find them.

the Lexus engineers never expected the SC to be sports car, it is a luxury touring roadster, just my opinion.

Exactly. I am still amazed at folks who try to make it a sports car. I'd no more try to trick out my SC than I would have my SL500, or my Q45, or my E320. It's just not that kind of car, IMHO. I know, I know, I am just an old guy who loves his car, but for the life of me I can't figure out why anyone would want to disable speed management and do other things to a car that was clearly designed, promoted and sold as a luxury touring convertible.

Besides, who cares if it goes 150Mph? What's the point?
