Hello,
I purchased a well-used fairly high-mileage 2002 SC430 and I was told I may need to replace the alternator at some point in the not-too-far-off future.
Has anyone here gone through the ordeal of having their mechanic replace the alternator? If anyone has any insight into this please chime in.
Thank you

Alternators is not one the prescribed replacement items in the engine.
If you so desire to replace it, go ahead. If that is the case, you can replace it now.
However you can put your alternator to a stress test and if it passes, no need to worry. BM Auto stores or even your Auto electrical shops can do this test for you.
