Is it me or....
Do these pictures not look strikingly similar??? First off, I saw a black one of these on the road the other day and it looks nothing special....it looks quite cheap (you'll know what I mean from the pics). That just my opinion, but look at these comparisons.

I like the car at first blush, but I'd have to see it in person to really make a decision. Pics don't always do a car justice and sometimes they make a car look better than they actually do.
I kinda have a soft spot for Z-cars anyway - I have a '72 240Z that I bought new ($4,200) and put 80,000 miles on. It needs some help, though and I gotta get rid of it ... anyone interested?

my 2 cents...
the sc430 looks nicer, has a much more elegant look, and interior... but costs TWICE as much.
the Z is about 35 k fully loaded, runs almost the same amount of HP (287) vs 300 on the SC430, yet runs a 5.2 sec 0 to 60 vs the sc430's highly disputed 5.9 timing (actually its been found to be 6.2 by car and driver)
in a race, id take the Z
for cruisin the town... the sc430
hell, why not have both? we all obviously had 65k to spare.

I disagree, I saw a black one on the road and it looked pretty cheap. I still think what Nissan is banking on is that people will get Z fever and look at it with an already biased point of view. People grew up loving this car and hence their approval for it. It is no different than the beetle and thunderbird. Instead of new groundbreaking ideas car companies are trying to recapture their old nostalgia. Instead of ideas like the S2000 or SC430, it is possible to make a new car that is "new" and sexy. Ill give in on the fact that parts will resemble other cars, its impossible not to. My only hope is that when the next Supra comes out I dont find myself defending some ugly box shaped nostaligic design. Nissan's 1990 Z was soooo ahead of its time, it was an awesome car, this new Z is just crap with a higher horsepower Altima engine, one of which is exceeded its displacement as many have written about it. just my two cents, or maybe four.

I like the new 350Z and the price point isn't too bad but its not an SC430. However I will admit they look sort of similar in the rear and the dimensions are close..
If the new Z was out when I got my SC then I would truly have a hard time choosing speed vs luxury but in the end the retractable hard top, interior luxury and silky 4.3L V8 would of won me over.. And that in the end justifies the purchase of an SC430!

True the old Z's were REALLY ahead of their time. I've seen a few pictures of the new supra....well at least they claim to be of the new supra but they're pretty ugly. they have the ES style lights which I think are so ugly especially on a sprots car. Ever since I saw the new ES I never really liked it. It is so high in the back and just looks ugly and still resembles the camry. They need to drop the same shape like they did on the LX. Hopefully the new supra will be more power AND looks not just trying to follow these crappy trends. Some cars are getting really ugly. Personally I prefer the old stype SC's too. Probably a bad idea to saw that on the SC430 boards but they truly butchered a great shape. I like the new shape but its just not as appealing like the smooth lines of the SCx00's. Dont take it personally but its juss my opinion. Is it me or do all these new sports cars have huge tops. They used to be so sleek and smooth. The Z, SC and from the pictures I've seen the supras too. The 350Z is pretty nice though. It doesnt look as nice the the last gen but I prefer the classics.
If you got a good thing going than keep it. If it aint broke than dont fix it.

My first car was a 280ZX Turbo. God, I loved that car!!!
It is true, the mere thought of getting into a Z again warms my heart. As such, I think I am very forgiving of any flaws that might be in the new Z. I do like the way the new Z looks and the fact that it has some styling character similar to the SC is fine with me (they are both beautiful). The retractable hard top, Lexus quality and luxery, and the existence of the tiny back seats - all rate the SC above the Z in my book.
Going to test drive the SC this weekend!!
