Default Trunk question

Hi Guys,

Simple question, when you press the open trunk button inside your SC or on the key fob does your trunk hood fully pop open or does it just unlock and you have to rise the trunk?

Mine just unlocks and I was wondering if the trunk lifts were bad.

Mine just pops the lock which gives it very little lift. The struts are really designed to hold the trunk open, similar to how the work on the hood.

Hi NH,

Mine just barely 'pops.' You have to look very closely to determine that 'something' has happened.

I'm with Bob on this; I think that this is the design for it.

Jerry Baumchen

PS) I was like you when I first got the car because my BMW would have the trunk pop up about 4-5 inches.

You'll know if your struts are bad if the trunk doesn't stay open. My struts went bad and would close on its own lol.

+1 When the struts are bad, the lid won't stay up.

The reason why the trunk won't pop up is because it is very heavy. Simple as that.
