Recent Service and Once Again The Dreaded Tire Sensors
I just had my car serviced at Lexus. I picked up the car and they informed me that they “reconnected” the wiring for my tire sensors, I didn’t ask them to do so.
“Oh, btw you don’t have tire sensors” WTF, I know I took them out and disconnected the wiring!!
They ‘would not’ re-disconnect the wiring on my request because “that is something Lexus can’t do.” I asked, “So you knew there were “no” tire sensors and you knowing reconnected the wiring to something that it could not receive a proper reading; yet you won’t once again disconnect the wiring? Yes Sir.. Lexus won’t do that for you. “Oh my god!”… Oh well I will once more disconnect the wiring.

Gotta agree...your time is valuable too. While I understand why they did it, they should have spoken with you first. It's no different then finding problem where a part would have been necessary to correct it. They would have called and gotten your approval first, BEFORE doing the work and installing the part.

Happened to me before on my RX, they performed the service without approval and therefore it was free.
A friend of mine who has a CPO ES330, went in for a dead battery (I gave him instructions, I knew it was not the alternator but had it checked because it was still under CPO warranty). Lexus confirmed it was the battery and tried to sell him a prorated new $100 battery (List was $190). I told him to refuse it (I lent him my battery charger) and get the heck out.
The minute he says, thanks no thanks, 180 degrees, the service guy says, let me check with the service manager...then came back with a $57 new battery charge which my friend jumped on.
After payment, the guy says, your car is ready. Turns out they went ahead and changed the battery without approval. These guys think they can just flip the deal that fast. Times have changed, just can not assume that anymore.
Shame on them not following procedure.
My friend went home with a fresh battery and a car wash. He's happy.
Lesson, ask the dealer not to perform services until approved.

Are car batteries covered under warranty? The last time I went in for service after I had to replace my battery, the SA said for me to jump start the car next time and bring the car in and they would replace it under warranty. I thought that car batteries weren't covered just like the batteries in our remote.
Anyone have any similar experience with the car battery?

Our RX330's battery died twice during the factory warranty and was covered. If you have an extended warranty it should be covered UNLESS it is specifically excluded in your warranty paperwork.
