Extended Warranty - should I?
I've had my 2005 SC430 with 55,000 mi for about 3 months and have been receiving notices to purchase an extended warranty. I currently do not have a CPO.
Should I or not?

I suggest you go for the Lexus Platinum Extended Warranty, zero deductible. Well worth it.
You can likewise consider aftermarket extended warranties.
Invest in time reviewing and reading the fine print so you know exactly what you are paying for and getting back in case you an issue with your Lexus.
Good luck.

Yes. But probably not from whoever is sending you the notices. Any Lexus or Toyota dealer call sell you a CPO extended warranty. Some will sell them for significantly less than others. They don't even have to be local to you. If you do a search, people have posted where they got the best deal.

The OEM warranty can save you a bunch of money if you plan on keeping the car long enough. It was enough for me to renew it when my original one expired.

One of the places to shop for an extended warranty is from Troy Dietrich (TDietrich@FD-Warranty.com) of Toyota of Greenfield http://fd-warranty.com/lexus/index.html
I am not associated with him or his company, just know there has been a lot of satisfied folks with many different types of cars.
Oh BTW, I purchased an extended warranty on my 02 with 50K miles in 2009. It has already paid for itself with one repair job which was more than 5K for one of the two trunk hinge/motor mechanisms. Peace of mind is worth the dollars I spent.

Troy sold me the extended warranty for my RX as well. Painless transaction. And yes I did use the warranty to my benefit.

HEAVENS YES!!! Without fail...I've paid for my warranties on both SC's 3x over with the cost of repairs that were covered on each one. Do a search and see my posts on this.
I agree with Liquid-be weary of who is sending...only buy from Toyota or Lexus or REALLY scrutinize the third party deal, but even then I wouldn't recommend unless you have no other options and the deal is crazy good.

For piece of mind its well worth it. Also if the roof ever fails the warranty has paid for itself.

Tensi,
The best thing to do is ask.... What's the worst that could happen? BTW when I got my 02 in Sep 09 I had to buy a 3rd party warranty since it was beyond the Lexus threshold. I negotiated on the original price got it for less. And, most important of all, it has paid for itself substantially, with one repair of over 5K and the latest; replacement of the subwoofer $800... I am way ahead with more than two years left on the warranty.

IIRC, the one I bought a year ago had a limit of 7 years. I talked to Kai (I think that is his name) at Park Place Lexus in the DFW area (Plano, maybe?).

Tensi-I think it will be hard to find a dealer that will sell you one, however I would personally start at the dealer where it was sold/bought and been serviced at if you have a relationship with them. Park Place in Dallas as well as Sewell have been known to make exceptions to year/mileage on an individual basis but I know they too get audited by Lexus Corporate, etc and need to be compliant with their policies.
Also check with Toy dealers too.

Thanks scdroptop. I tried the dealer I bought/service my car SC. No luck, missed it cause the time frame. I tried another dealer who I am very friendly with. Service Rep tried but couldn't do it.
Toyota here seems totally different from what others have experienced in other parts of the country. They seem totally unable/willing to get involved with a Lexus. I will ask about the warranty though.
