Default Need some help on getting a part... see pic.

Fixed my speakers, it was cracked very badly on the large and mid speakers, but one of the cable snapped as soon as I took the door out...

I guess it was due to old age maybe... I need to get a replacement part and would need help on the part number... since I can't lock the driver side door

Unfortunately, you have to get the whole lock assy w/motor ( part# 69040-24100 ).

Try ebay or CL vendors.

Not sure how much Sewell is...try there for a new one. http://lexus.sewellparts.com/

If you want a used one, here's one on eBay for $175:

Not sure if it will work but it might be possible to use a soldering gun to solder a small nut or 5-6 very small washers onto the end of that cable. Need to use a nut or washer size that will fit into and catch where the ball end went. Use a needle nose to clamp the wire in front of the housing to act as a heat sink. Given the cost and me being a cheapskate that's what I would try first.

A weird alternate idea to replace ball end - check with a place that does body piercings - they may have small stainless steel beads of right size that are also drilled to approximate diameter of cable. Put it on the cable, crimp it down, and then solder to make permanent.

kinda looks like a weight shot you put on a fishing line. Wonder if some epoxy with a piece of shot compressed would work?

Lead shot type material could deform and slip out. There is a tremendous amount of force applied to the ball end. So I think solder might hold better than even an extremely strong glue given the ball end cable is steel.

Do you still have the ball end that came off? If so drill it then run a short twised bowden cable piece or get an old motorcycle clutch cable and then use a hollow sleve coupler and crimp the wires inside the coupler.

If the repair/soldering does not work, you can stop by most reputable bicycle shops, especially higher end ones, and get a replacement cable (bicycle brake). It may not be identical, but it should function just fine.

Hi Bob,

I have no idea of what diameter the cable/wire rope is or the diameter of the ball on the end.

However, I do know that a similar setup is used in making parachute ripcords.

One idea might be to stop by a fairly large airplane maintenance place and see what they might be able to do. Aircraft have a fair amount of cables with ball ends in various diameters-sizes.

Just a thought,

Or you all could solve the cold fusion equation while you are at it...might be easier! LOL
