GPS problem-Help wanted
Just got my 2002 SC430 a few days ago. The next morning the battery was dead, probably from sitting in the lot for a while. I took out the battery to charge it. Then after putting the battery back in and starting the car, I noticed the navigation/GPS door wouldn't close when the car was turned off. And when the close button is pressed, the navigation screen turns off but the door doesn't close. However, the tilt screen was working. After starting the car again the tilt button stopped working as well, and the screen is stuck in a forward position. The GPS still works, but I just cant tilt it or close the door.
Any one know what caused this to happen and how I can fix it?

Welcome to the forum NewSC430.
Often these progressive type electrical failures tend to point to a battery problem. Is your battery fully charged and holding its charge okay? You can also check the appropriate fuses to make sure that one hasn't blown out but I suspect that will not be the problem. Another possibility is a loose connector. If both the door and the tilt functions are on the same cable, it is possible the connector was coming loose and the door just lost its connection first.
Good luck and let us know what you find out. (After that, post some pictures of your car...)

Thanks for the quick response. Well I just checked the battery today and it's charge was 12.6 volts. But I had just driven it so I'll have to see how it holds up over night. Everything else electronic in the car is working fine and I checked the fuse for the navigation which is in the passenger side and it was fine. Can I safely rule out the battery and the fuse?

It sounds like the battery should be okay. I'd have to check to see what voltage mine sits at. A charged lead acid battery will sit around 13 1/2 V open circuit, I'm just not sure what ours will sit at connected.
The other thing to be aware of is that our SC seems to have multiple fuses for various applications and they are not all located in the same fuse box. So there may be other fuses scattered around the car that apply. (VVTiBob is usually good at locating these.) Check out the manuals on the Lexus website and others to find them all.
