How many of you drive your SC in the snow?
#31
I'm in Wisconsin and drive mine in the snow periodically, but I have another vehicle with all-wheel drive for when it gets really bad. My SC430 is better than the SC300 (I'm guessing weight) I had before this, but then again I grew up in northern Wisconsin and had a 1977 Trans Am so maybe I've learned the quirks of rear-wheel drive in snow. Good snow tires are by far the #1 recommendation I can give anyone if you have to drive in the winter. Like others, I love the Blizzak tire and have the Michelin all-seasons right now which are pretty good. Unless they have gotten better, skip the Pirellis. I drove my SC300 with snows when I had no other vehicle, and it did just fine. The other recommendation is to try to keep the vehicle in motion and anticipate hills. My driveway has a steep incline from the main road, so I switch off the ETC the block before since it will stop power to the wheels mid-way up the incline. While it may be stating the obvious to most, be very gentle with the brakes and switch into Neutral down hills.
