Amsoil ATF instead of Toyota Type IV
I got great results using Amsoil signature series oil. My fuel consumption went from 10litres / 100km to about 8 litres / 100km.
I also change the diff oil, as the diff looks like it has never been done. Check out how much metal was collected from the magnet.
Now I am wondering if the Amsoil ATF can be used instead of the Toyota Type IV?
Anyone has actually done the change to Amsoil ATF?

Do you get any shutter with Amsoil when going up hills on light throttle and when the transmission shift to a lower gear?
I tried Transmax Z on a SC400 and this is what it did. So I reverted back to Toyota type IV and it was back to smooth shifting.

Thanks but not what I was saying. AMSoil ATF can safely be used instead of Toyota Type IV.
My 2006 SC430 requires Type IV as far as I am aware. My 2010 RX350 requires WS. 2008 onwards SC430's require WS frm what I can find out.
I will check when I get home next week!

I have been using Amsoil exclusively in our '02 SC since purchasing it with 15K miles 4 years ago. It now has 45 K miles. No issues whatsoever. No shutter. Just smooth shifting.
I use Amsoil 0W-30 engine oil and Amsoil synthetic tranny fluid. I change both at the same time. I drain the tranny pan and change whatever comes out. 2 Qts. of tranny fluid in the pan if I remember correctly.
Go for it!

To do a proper transmission flush requires a good 12 to 16 litres of ATF, ie (10-17 quarts). I don't think 2 quarts will do much but to dilute the ATF.

Understood. Never meant to mislead anyone. It's simply a way to slowly change the fluid out over time without a complete flush/fill. Since Lexus doesn't have a service schedule for the tranny in the SC it's better than doing nothing.

I think I have solved my transmission problem . I went to get the fluids changed out and I brought a 5-quart container. I think more was needed and any kind on hand was used in my vehicle. I am going to get this fluid changed out again. I have had Toyota/Lexus for years and I have just learned how important Dexron III is in the transmission and power steering fluid. The older I get the more I enjoy learning about cars and not to make costly mistakes.

Did Lexus recommend doing a flush on the SC430's? For other models they used to only recommended a Drain & Fill. Their thought was to not "stir up" anything that had settled and have it not get removed during the flush or break loose later. The drain & fill intervals were close enough that only replacing 2 quarts at a time was okay. I did that for years with my RX's and never saw problem with it. Now days with the "sealed" transmissions they are making a different statement on fluid changes...
