I just put a new antenna on a SC430 2002. It goes up and down okay but after it is already down it sits there and grinds for about 15 seconds. The noise and vibration is coming right at the base of the antenna (where the nut is). Any ideas what is wrong? The motor was cleaned out so I know there is no trash in the motor.

Was this a OEM antenna replacement? I ask because your description seems to indicate the motor is still trying to retract the antenna. Did you follow the TSB instructions for replacement? LEXUS TSB ON ANTENNA post #3.

i replaced mine after destroying it in the car wash. it's installed properly but when it goes up or down its kinda loud. i just no longer use the radio anyway so it doesnt bother me.

igorxx, did you ever find a solution to your power antenna problem, I just replaced my antenna and it is doing the same thing.

When mine failed, I simply had the mechanic disable it.

Strong FM signals are still okay, AM is non-existent.
