i have a 2005 sc 430 and want to install a spare tire. i notice in some responses that different wheels from other manufactures will fit. i am going to do the "plywood" floor that someone mentioned but have a question on how you secure the wheel in the wheel well in the trunk..

The overpriced spare tire kit comes with a stand off bracket (approximately 4 inches) which attaches to the rear wall. The tire stands vertically in the tire well and a threaded rod and washers passes thru the spare wheel's hub mounting to the bracket.
One of our other moderators, Habious, was kind enough to do the research and post the various part numbers for the entire kit. You can get what you want, rather than the entire overpriced kit. I'd suggest one of our CL vendors, SewellPartsOnline. They offer a discount to CL members. (I am not affiliated with them, other than being a customer myself.) Here is the LINK TO HABIOUS' COMMENT....POST#7 in the thread.
Welcome to Club Lexus. If you follow the Link in my signature below, there are a couple of pictures of the spare tire kit's garnish cover and OEM cut carpet panel.

Welcome to the forum pilkeball.
I purchased my spare separately (used) and then purchased the rest of the kit from Sewell. The spare is the most expensive part of the kit. There are several threads that list various non-SC430 spare tires that fit our cars. Mine is a Supra TT. Good luck and let us know what you wind up doing. (Then post some pictures.)
