Default Buying new rims help!

I need some advice from all you sc430 gurus. I'm looking to purchase some rims with this size and offset: 20x8.5 +35 20x9.5 +40. Is that too conservative of a offset, as in, sitting too far in the wheel well? And if I go with these rims what are a good size tire to go with to avoid wheel rubbing issues, I plan to put a conservative drop on the car (1 1/2"- 2"). Plus I'm looking for a smooth, quiet riding tire with out breaking the bank, what do you guys ride on and suggest. I don't need a very agressive sport tread, I'm not planning to race with this car or anything, just my cruiser. I searched a bunch but nothing really hits the points that I'm looking for, any input is welcomed.

According to the wheel fitment sticky, you can go up to +20 offset front and back with that size wheels.

This is what I have:
OEM Wheels (IS250/350):
Size: 18 x 8.0 Fronts & 18 x 8.5 Rears
* Offset: 45mm Front / 50mm Rear

I added 25mm spacers up front and 30mm spacers in the rear and I still think the rear can go further out. I am dropping (tomorrow) 1inch all around on the TTE springs. So that might improve the look. I dont like the ride quality on 20s but I would recommend 225/40/20 up front and 255/40/20 in the rear. As long as your drop isnt crazy you shouldnt have issues rubbing because I run the same set up except in the 18 version (and 19 version on my 2IS).

I think if you want a smooth ride and really want 20s your gonna have to shell out the cash on the higher end tires Miichellin Pilot Sports and Conti Extremes seem to be a favorite on both the SC and IS fourms. Now If your going with a smaller rim you can still get a pretty good ride with the Hankook Ventus V12 tires- those im my opinion are the best combination of value/performance/ride comfort.

Other guys on here are better than I at this offset stuff but I hope I helped, just remember if your going after market make sure the wheels accept our tire pressure sensors! Also if you wanted to go OEM I would recommen the ISF rears all around with a 25-30mm spacer in the rear and a 1-2 inch drop...I think that would make the car look like it "should" from factory.

Good luck!

With sumitomo htrzIII my 20s ride EXACTLY like stock minus the bumps from the runflat tires.

I would do 245/35-20 and 275/30-20 anything narrower would have you worrying about curbs.

Whatever you buy, make sure it's light weight. You'll definitely feel the difference.

245/35/20 and 275/30/20, hopefully are not going to be too wide for these wheels right? And are they gonna give me enough side wall where it doesn't feel like I'm riding in a tank? Thanks for all the inputs so far.

Beware of anything less than a 30 series tire if your sc is your daily driver!
