Exclamation Navigation Destinations Are Off by a Block

I have a 2002 SC430 (Gen 2/3 navi) with the original navigation disc (car build date is early 2001). I have noticed that when I use my navigation it consistently says "You Have Arrived" one or two city blocks before the actual destination.

The navigation itself on the map is very accurate, but it always miscalculates the actual location of my destination. Short of replacing the disc (which I am trying to do for a reasonable price), is there any adjustment I can make to fix this issue?

Thank you

Mine is Gen 4, but I'm guessing that this is intended, just like it announces turns ahead of the actual turn. I think the idea is to give you a bit of advance notice.

Mine does the same thing...Johnny's right... it's an anticipation so you be actually paying attention to your driving rather than looking at the NAV screen.

Will a new DVD help?

Granted the NAV lady in the SC is not the smartest cookie, but there is a setting whereby she will avoid toll roads.

Mine does it too... Just make sure your map is fully zoomed and the dot is pretty close to your destination.

I have a hard time believing that lexus designed it this way. Like Swishh said, it may have something to do with the zoom level. I'm going to try it with the navi zoomed all the way in next time to see if there is any difference. I'm just inclined to think this is a bug in the very early models.

Has anyone with a newer SC430 noticed this issue?

The only "newer" NAV system than my upgraded GEN 4 (02s have GEN 2/3 systems) would be ones found in 2010 SC430s. They have GEN 6 NAV systems, SC430s skipped the GEN 5 systems.

VVTiBob, you're right, I completely forgot you have the upgraded navi on your 2002. I assume you are using a relatively modern DVD disc on there also. I am using what I think is the "1.0" disc release.

Mines off too - regardless of what i set my destination to, I always end up at Glorias with a frozen margarita... is there any way to fix it?

I'm relatively certain they designed it that way. It wouldn't do much good to hear "you have arrived at your destination" as you're driving past it at 50 mph.
