Ok, I wasnt going to respond as I was very skeptical of it too. Why twin turbo is beyond me. Isnt the Lingefetter for Vettes like $15k...they do have different stages. Its quite possible it is just $3000 for the turbos. Another reason they go so easily on the older SC300 is because that was a Supra engine. Putting turbos in is a very complicated process as they are exhaust fed and go on the back of the engine, while superchargers are belt driven and are forced induction. People....a lot more goes into speed then strapping on turbos. Including all things listed you need to be sure that the transmission and driveshaft can handle that. Everyone always forgets about saftey, such as brakes and etc. Finally, 100hp from a twin turbo setup doesnt make much sense at any cost. Strap on a larger single turbo and youll gain 150-200hp.

OH YEAH, HE SAID 425RWHP rear wheel horsepower. Add 15-20% of that to get the HP rating. You are talking 500hp fromt he SC engine. Which means bye bye brakes, tranny and driveshaft among other things.

Besides the hardware are expensive, labor is also intensive too. A lot of Custom work. $3k is nothing in building a TT. Even single will have a hard time to meet the budget. Remember, the SC430 is a V8. Two headers or exhuast manifolds.

I would not be suprise that the TT SC430 be $6-8K plus labor and tunning. Therefore, it will be around $10,000 for that system.

Add to all of the problems mentioned above the complexity of modifying the computer to integrate the turbo or whatever into the system.

The computer stuff is probably the most difficult part - and being the first in this area means you better have a second car to use most of the time 'cause your SC will be back and forth to the tuner on a very frequent basis as he does his trial and error thing....

NEVER be among the first users of an aftermarket turbo/supercharger unless you're a masochist.

Of course this is just MHO.

i just want to say this though i doubt the tranny and driveshafts would give out under 500HP, because going by toyota past of building drive line parts to be over spec you shouldn't have a problem (stock supra auto tranny takes about 550HP because it breaks. The manual one i have never heard of breaking).

Ok as having owned a Supra.....First the tranny was a getrag 6-speed. very nice and expensive tranny used in vettes, vipers and lost of other fancy powerful cars. It also costs about $6000. Yes thats right $6000 for a transmission. It is also tru that it was all but vulletproof, depending on who you talk to in the 550-650hp range. The engine was also bulletproof as well and aside fromt he injectors (which were quite large anyway) could take 650hp. Now if you want to run your car on the edge, thats fine. I chose not to I was pushing 465hp and evertime the car made a noise I thought it was going to crack in half, it never did though. Most people who went the auto tranny route in that car used a level 10 one. We were actually at the track when we saw a 900hp Supra make its first run down the track at low 10's and snapped its state of the art driveshaft passed the finish line.

My point is this, you need to have deep pockets to do this. The Lexus Tranny is no where near that of the Supras, not much is. You have to dedice whether you want to enjoy the car or worry about it all the time. As for me if they day comes when I can afford a modded SC and a stock when then I will do it. While I wish the SC was faster, I did sell my 12 sec Supra in order to get it.

I thought that from a previous thread that the Blitz twin screw increased stock by 70hp. If you look at the Japanese website and do the conversion it seems pretty close. The cost at that time was 15k.

Default ancient thread

This thread is old blue, and to answer your question the anderson sc430 TT were dropping trannies like crazy...no wonder with nearly 700hp...

Since this thread was in 2002, the blitz superchargers were very, very new and no one really new the output on them. People thought 400-500hp territory but were totally imagining things. The twin screw chargers for the SC don't really bolt on all that much power; there was an article in super street, the SC430 prototype made by blitz was putting out approx 350whp with the twin chargers, ATF cooler and other addons that probably boosted the total output.

Even now the blitz superchargers are pretty vague....no one knows alot about them, or at least I don't...I only know one member on CL and thats 'blitz' who has them. I don't think he really said any output numbers on his car.

Nobody has mentioned the WORST side effect of doing either supercharging or turbocharging:
BYE BYE WARRANTY!!
I woudn't do it even for free. Wrong car for that; NOTHING was designed for that kind of power.

By the time you upgraded transmission, ignition system, engine management, suspension, brakes, and who knows what else (besides losing your warranty), an M5 would be cheaper... and much quicker. Can't understand that mentality, but to each its own.

Have a great weekend everybody.

I can understand your viewpoint JC but I personally wouldnt want the M5. My warranty is almost up so I gave in to the hot rod bug in me. Hey, if I blow this thing up after SRT gets through with I'll post it here. That way everyone can learn from my experience. I think there will always be some of us that can't leave well enough alone.
