Default Tires-again-Conti DWS

About to pull the trigger on a set of 245-40-18s. Anyone have over 5000 miles on these?
How do they hold up? Looking for a relatively quiet tire with good dry and rare wet capability. Never drive in snow. Have Michi Pilot Sport AS now and are too loud and track every road imperfection of which there are a lot here in Michigan--tired of fighting the tires to stay on line.
Need to buy by 3pm eastern on 3/31 to get a good price and a rebate.
Thanks for any input.

I have about 7500 on them now. Quiet, wearing well, sure-footed. Not quite the stability as a dedicated summer performance tire, but that is to be expected of any all-season rated tire. Also been good in light snow this winter - but I grew up driving Detroit battleships (60's rear-wheel drive behemoths) in Wisconsin winters, so my perspective on winter driving is warped.

I am going to order them tomorrow with a set of Drag DR-19 wheels in silver from Discount Tire.
Getting a $200 rebate.

If your place doesn't snow, get the Continential DW, not DWS. They are way better.

AHH Michigan Last time I checked Michigan does get snow. And better in what way? These are quiet and look like they will last a long time. the only down side is a somewhat soft sidewall.

Conti rep told me DW was discontinued in many sizes so could be a problem if have to replace a tire. I would have preferred the DW as SC never sees snow and rarely sees rain. But since our roads are about 75% pothole and 25% tarmac the softer DWS should give a better ride.

The DWS is an all season tire while the DW is a summer performance tire. I have both - the DW on my BMW and the DWS on my SC430.

DW tires have better grip in dry and wet but shouldn't be used in snow. The DWS tires are for daily commute. Because the two cars are rather different I cannot do a fair comparison in terms of ride comfort and quietness.

But in gerenal all season tires ride better (quieter and softer) and last longer. The DWS comes with a 50k warranty whereas the DW doesn't have any tread wear warranty.

It all depends on what you the tires for.

DT? I guess Continental gives you the credit if you bring car and show the paperwork or do you just take it back to where you bought it from?

Yes, you get credit from Discount Tires when you buy next set of new tires. That's how i got mine and DT is pretty good about it.

If you go somewhere else, I am not sure how and where you get the refund for the tread wear warranty.

^^^^ Sweet!!! I have very bad luck with tires. I've already needed Discount Tires to replace a tire because there was a bubble in it and they needed to patch another one up because of a nail. Both of those happened in less than 6 months of getting the tires.
