When I switch between air conditioning and regular airflow, and visa versa, the air smells like stinky garbage. My local Lexus dealer suggested turning off the AC before I got to my destination. Lame, that didn't work. Any suggestions? Do I need to replace something to get rid of some mold?

Have you replaced your cabin filter yet? Last year I started to get a stinky b.o. odor in mine when I would first turn on the AC. I realized that I hadnt changed the filter in a couple of years so I put in a new one. The smell was gone right away!

I agree. Replace the cabin air filter first. They really do make a difference.

New filter will normally get rid of the smell. not all filters are created equal. In fact the Toyota one got stinky very quick and I had to replace it with the old one.

It is behind the glove box. Remove the glove box. Remove the air filter plastic cover, remove the air filter. Vacuum out any leaves of dirt. Spray in some Lysol (as state above, good idea) insert new filter. Reinstall plastic cover. Reinstall glove box. Done in 5-10 minutes.
