Default My new 2002 SC430

Hello

I just bought a 2002 Lexus SC430 one owner with 24k. Silver with black interior. What a beautiful car, powerful and fun to drive. I have been surfing this forum and there is a lot of good info and helpful folk out here. I will post photos soon.

Congrats! I bought my 05 this past Feb. I thought mine had low miles at 40k yours is even more "virgin-esk" :-)

Good for you! I love the Black interiors.

I had a 1988 Cadillac Allante as my "toy" car for the past 15 years, thus the name CADZILLA88. It took a special car to make me switch. I love the fact that I can go from hardtop to open air in 25 seconds. My Caddy had a convertible top plus removable hard top which was nice but this is so much better. I switched the CADZLLA license plate to the Lexus since the name had a double meaning. I work as a CAD specialist (Computer Aided Design) so that is who I am too. I haven't decided on a new name for my SC430. That will come with time.

Yes I was real lucky to find a 10 year old one owner with so few miles. It has been garage kept, but there still are a few minor issues.

The GPS and stereo doors do not work electrically. You can manually open and close them but it would be nice to get them fixed.

The one thing that I have fixed already is the rear headrest leather had shrunk and pulled away from the edge showing the white platic underneath. I had them recovered this past Friday for $200.

I also ordered a set of "Twist" center caps for the wheels. The "Pie Plates" are not bad, kind of the retro look, but after reading several post out here, I wanted to be able to change the look a little.

Welcome to the forum. Regarding the doors on the GPS display and stereo. In most instances one of the guides is off its track and it's an easy fix .....once you get to the components. Getting there is a little more complex however. Don't know if you are a DIYer or not.

Welcome to the forum. I'm sure you'll find plenty of neat info and a good place to "brag" about that new car! Great low miles!

Welcome to the forum. There is great expertise here.

I also have an '02 (for about 1 year now). I've had a lot of great cars over the decades (including Audi, Mercedes, and an '82 Supra that was fabulous), and this SC430, hands down, is my all-around favorite.

BTW Just got a refund from the center cap seller. They do not have any in stock. But a local guy in SC says he might have a new set and will get back to me tomorrow.

Bob thanks.. Yes I am a DYI guy. I was reading a thread on the forum about removing the GPS unit. It looks doable. Do you have a link to any other threads on this subject?

Thanks

Ken

PS I will take some photos this weekend and post them.

Question for VVTiBob

In your photos you have a rear seat area cover. Where did you get it? BTW your SC looks great.

I found it a couple of years ago on eBay. As far as I know they are no longer available. This question has come up several times but no luck finding them in north america...maybe Japan ....but they were priced ridicously high...over a grand.

Congrats. Silver is classy. I just bought a 2002 myself in Midnight Pine.
What didja pay if you some dont mind me asking. I paid 24k for mine. It had 11,500 miles when I got her.
It really feels like a brand new car. The guy even did the timing belt.

Any issues with yours? Do you have the run flats?
