momentary tire-pressure sensor ON at high speed
i have an '02 430 with 10K with tires at 40#s. . ..
i was coming up north on I-15 from SanDiego ,3AM, outside temp 55deg, and nice smooth stretch so inched up to 120MPH; about 2 miles later, I saw my tire pressure warning light come on for a few seconds. . . i slowed down and it went off. . . . tires were OK, so i went back on, upto 115mph, no light. . . hit 120 again for <1/2 mile, no light on again. . .
Has any one had the light come on, for reasons other than actual low tire pressure? ? ?

well....
I haven't been past 112 myself.. but my guess is that is has something to do with physics and that the sensors were probably never tested at 120mph.... My guess is that they were tested between 0 and 100mph.. ALTHOUGH I'd have to wonder about the German's and their Autobahn use because I'd think it pretty safe to assume they regularly travel on the autobahn at speeds exceeding 100mph....
SO that being said, is there a German on this website who can tell us about their SC430 and the autobahn?

No lights for my friend
Hypothetically speaking, I have a friend who knows someone else who it is rumored has had his or her SC430 up to 130 with the top up, and 125 with the top down, and has not had the tire pressure lights on.
I seem to recall a thread several months (maybe almost one year) ago talking about the need to have the tires at much higher pressure above a certain high rate of speed (110 or 120?) - might have been the ongoing saga of Manaray's trip from Indiana to Sarasota?.
FYI, my hypothetical friend's tires are at 38psi.

When running the Silver State challenge (165 mph) the technicians require an "O" ring type valve stem cap. (Your Lexus comes standard with these type caps.)This is due to the tendancy of the needle in the valve to become compressed at high centrifigual forces.
It is possible that your valve leaked enough air to set off your sensor. Good idea to check out your current tire pressures.
I had the same thing happen when I did a tire spinning start. The light came on for about 20 miles, then went off.
