As many SC430 owners, I am always worried about failure of the hard top, especially on a 11 year old car. I tend not to move the top when the car is parked on a steep incline, thinking that it might add extra pressure to the mechanism. I always wait until I'm on even ground to move the top.

Does anyone else go to such crazy measure to avoid issues with the roof?

We must both be crazy then. I do the same thing. I have no evidence that I am doing anything beneficial, but there is some logic to it.

It just seems like "the right thing to do" Just like letting the car rest on the ebrake before putting it into park..

I also only retract it on level surfaces. The manual also makes note of this.
