Default 02 Sc430 Recall

I just got my first recall today.... free replacement of valvestems because the chrome plated brass tends to cause failure in cold weather climates. Has anyone else gotten this yet and/or done this yet?

Cool

Taking my car in Monday for a replacement amplifier and a car wash.
Service writer said they have not yet rec'd the replacement aluminum caps. This is not a recall, but a "limited service campaign" to notify customers of a "potential" problem, and to offer them a free replacement.
"Before you are enconvienced by these symptoms,Lexus would like to replace the chrome plated brass stem caps with aluminum ones."
Free parts and labor. Heck they would probably provide a courtesy loaner car if you requested one.
Lexus is going way out of their way to provide a quality of service unique in the automotive world.
UNTIL NOV, 30, 2005 they will offer this replacement free.
Such appention to detail is one such reason that Lexus has the stellar reputation it has earned.
In case you have not noticed Lexus even provides a small rubber seal in these valve caps to reduce the possibility of high speed air leakage caused by centrifugal forces depressing the valve spring.

Fulmitz ...

I *assumed* I needed a new amp because on three different occasions, the volume went to BLAST!! when I adjusted unrelated controls (one was the volume down button on the steering wheel).

It hasn't happened since I had it replaced, but it's been only a couple of weeks so I don't know if the amp was the true cause of the problem.

Default Mine stolen

My "steel" caps were ripped off the first month I had the car - and I haven't bothered replacing with anything....no problems. This Lexus replacement is just what the doctor ordered, although I don't know how long they will last in my 'hood.

I wonder how much a replacement set costs...anyone know?

Default hmmm

Will Lexus still give out replacements if the originals were stolen? I wonder? Hey, look at it this way.. your revenge on the original stolen ones is they can get corroded in place on the thiefs car and he or she won't be able to take them off!

Hey, does Lexus come over and change the caps while they are sitting in my garage.....I know its a lil incovienent for them, but if they want ill stack them in piles of two to help, because right now they are stacked in four....and that would just be plain rude.

Thumbs up

Just took mine in for the cap replacements today. They replaced the caps and filled up my tank, all free of charge. Now that's customer service.

My dealer didn't have any of the new caps, so they gave me an IS300 instead.

Default I dunno

I'll look at the campaign letter again to see if it says 2002 and 2003 models... I think it might have said both BUT I honestly don't remember...

I guess I'll have to try to schedule my appt. for the replacement when I am close to an empty tank of gas... (Grin)
