My warranty will keep expenses in check until 2015 but thought it may be helpful for others to know what things cost.
Power window switch passenger side $180
Replace GPS and Mark Levinson Head Unit $5500
Replace drivers side power seat motor $1200
Replace power mirror Switch $160
Callibrate 2008 wheel sensors on 2003 car $180
All of this was covered by my warranty, and if I had to pay out of pocket I would have done without these repairs. A tom tom and manually setting the seat and mirror would knock the repair cost down to $100 tThis list is 10 years worth of repairs.
A lot of the new members are buying old SCs and trying To figure out cost of ownership.A friend at work bought a 5 year old 750i and had to ditch it the first year with 5k repairs. I would estimate a ten year old SC driven 15k miles a year will run less than $1000 a year including maintainence. I am still planning to keep LB to her 15th birthday. After the warranty I just won't fix things that are cost prohibitive

I'll add to the list of repair cover by my extended warranty.
o2 sensor $180 up to 4x
Motor mounts around $500 for two of the three
One door woofer $280 + 200 in labor
One sub woofer $500 + 300 more in labor charges
And one luggage lid/sliding roof hinge $5500
My warranty has easily paid for itself and still has another couple of years of life left in it.

Thanks for posting, folks. I have a 2002 and I am wondering if any of these "after-market" warranties cover cars with high mileage (130K+)? I am assuming they do not, I'm guessing the above folks have low mileage on theor 2002's and 2003's (I knot VVtiBob does, I'm guessing others are low mileage as well)

From experience I can tell you that my warranty company wouldn't touch an SC with mileage in the 50k mile range. That was another reason I didn't buy until I found a low mileage SC (23k mi). If you look long enough you can get a deal. My SC was 6 years old with that mileage and I paid $26k in 2008. There was a second one that had similar mileage for $30k. But it also took me 9 months of looking. I bought it from a small high end dealer and he told me to have it checked out by a lexus dealer, which i did. For $180 and 2 hours of my time i bought a lot of piece of mind. Ironically, I got that deal at the beginning of summer ( of 2008), which is a great time to buy in convertible. Even though it only has 26 k miles on it 4 years later, it is a daily driver since my commute is only 5 miles round trip.
