it didn't seem like a smart question at first, but after reading the first post and look at my car, i am no smarter than OP. i am glad someone else thought of it before i need to open the trunk manually. great info as always.
But that procedure will not work if the car's battery is dead! You have to use the secret squirrel trunk release device discussed earlier in the the thread.
I just had this problem on my 2003 ES. I found a manual release just inside the back seat access. Its at the top of the opening just as you reach inside.
The lever in the middle console is the ejection lever. Just pull it and make sure the top is down so you dont bump your head. Johnny Cake told me this.
