SC430 2006 reverse camera stopped working
First of all I'd like to say thank you for this forum, it's a wealth of information.
I am a proud owned of a Black SC430 2006, it runs like a dream,
the problem I have is that the reverse camera has stopped working, it was working from when
I bought the vehicle (8 months ago) but now when I shift it into reverse the screen comes up black.
If anyone can give me any help it would be much appreciated.

There are three things you need to check: the wire connections, the NavTool (or similar electronics) or the camera. I would start with the wire connections. Unfortunately, you need to remove the trunk liner to see the connections in the back of the Nav DVD player. Since the screen switches from Nav to black, you can assume the wire to the reverse lights is sensing power. That leaves the other wire connections. I remember how difficult it was to splice in the wires to the harness plug out of the back of the DVD. It's quite possible that one of the wires has come loose. Next check the camera. BTW, make sure there is nothing over the lens giving you a black screen. If connections are good and camera good, then you're looking at the NavTool box. I'm sure you can ship it back for repairs.
look at this link to see what you might have installed; https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc-...-pictures.html
Good luck.

Thanks guys, this is an Australian SC430, the SC430 comes standard from Lexus with the reversing camera from MY06 models and up, the camera is not a 3rd party add on.
I'll give it a go on the weekend and remove the trunk liner and see if I can see anything.

As far as I know the answer is no. But you can get a navtool and camera and hook it up and it will work with your nav screen. We really use ours. She looks for the rear view even if she is driving the other Lexus, and that one doesn't have one.

For OEM I was surprised that the Video Box was just loose behind the big black box its sitting on in the picture, and just taped up.
So the Video Input box has power and look to be ok.
I see it's just using a normal video jack and the power is coming from the taped up wired (top right).

I decide to check the video box by connecting another small camera, connect the test camera to the video input and connect the power from the original camera source.
It works, so I know the the Video Box is ok.

So I replace the original video and power connecters and follow the video camera lead, which ends up in the back part of the liner (right side).
There I find another connector (as shown), it's a svideo connector with 4 pins.
I gather 2 are for power and the other 2 are for the video from the camera.

The lead goes through the metal body into the the cavity in the bumper.
So I take out the number plate lights and find the svideo lead in there (black wire in picture) and it's connected to the camera.
I pull on it thinking it will pull the other end it the picture above, but no, it seem to be stuck.
So I unscrew the right side break light, I put me hand in the cavity (just get my hand in there) and find the lead is stuck onto the bumper.

After I unstick it, it comes out.
So now I have to find a replacement camera that has a svideo connector on it, or make one up myself.
Anyone seen a reverse camera with a svideo connector?

You might be able to buy a replacement camera made by the same manufacturer that made the one you have now: http://www.jj-intl.com/en/company/?aid=3
