Check engine light on. Shop says evap code. Car hesitates and rough start when cold. Car hesitates and cuts out for first mile or so. Also when maintaining constant speed. Car "bucks" or stutters. 2002 with 110,000. Any ideas?

Had same problem with my SC400. it's your TPS.
Make sure to clean IACV, TB, MAF and so on if that doesn't do anything. Not expensive: http://www.partsgeek.com/mmparts/thr...xus/sc430.html
Post when issue solved!

SC400slide meant "Throttle Position Sensor" when he stated TPS and not "Tire Pressure Sensor" for those of you who missed that.

Ok. Had car at the shop today. Mechanic spent 1.5 hours looking for cause of the problem. Could not find anything but a damaged electrical connector near firewall. I will be ordering the tps tomorrow

Yes, order the TPS. Order a used one that works-I did and it was only $30. I will be surprised if it is not the TPS.

Ok. I ordered the tps. Is this an easy replacement? Anything to be aware of before I start? Looks like a simple 2bolts ?

Replacing the TPS on the older SC's, unlike your SC430, has 2 small screws. I'm sure yours will as well. Replacing the TPS is an in and out deal but can get frustrating when you try and find the "sweet spot", but once you have found the sweet spot were it is idling smoothly, tighten the screws back on. Do you have Trac? If you do, there will be 2 TPS's. If the TPS does not work, remove the plastic cover above it and see if you can tighten the throttle bolt linkage. I hope all goes well, post results!

I have had this problem. Growing progressively worse for more than one year. Shop could never find the problem.
