Ok guys considering jumping back into a Lexus - had a 2010 ISF for a short time. I appreciate the grand touring setup that the SC430 offers along with the reliability factor I can't get with say an E46 M3 convertible.
I was looking to get an opinion on private sale value for: a 2007 sc430 with 82k miles, dealer maintained, clean carfax although it has had a new bumper cover. Scheduled maintenance is all set through 80k miles , including the rear diff service. I realize it will need a timing belt at 90k. Seller has all documentation since new.
Interior is great, low wear, no obvious scratches etc. Darker tan color.
Exterior is black - showing tons of swirls, a few scratches, one ding nothing major. It does have the front end paint protection. It was garaged at home, not at work. It was driven through northeast winters with blizzaks on dedicated winter wheels.
Tires are OK - run flats so these would be replaced shortly.
Asking is $24k - thoughts ? And I would be getting a PPI.
Thanks.

OK you got me on PPI?
Base solely on the info you've supplied... Offer 22.5 settle on the difference for run flats tires and 90k service which is a big one. The TB alone will run you about a K. But the 07 is going to move you backwards technologically from the 2010...i.e. Bluetooth etc....

Appreciate it - PPI is pre-purchase inspection - typically 1 to 1.5 hrs labor charge at a dealer or independent to go over the car . This is a necessity on say an E39 M5 or 996 p-car - for Lexus I could see how people don't bother is maintenance is up to date.
Seems like the 90k timing belt needs to get done to your point.

Seems like a good ball-park price. What VVTiBob said. You can look at cars.com and get a good idea of what's out there. If you are happy with the color, etc then pursue it. If you'd prefer another color, there are 07's out there with less miles. I got an 03 in 2012 with 38k and the belt and waterpump had been changed routinely at 37k which was great for me. Good maintainence is the key for any used car. Good luck!

I'm mainly focused on 2006 for the updates and price point - however if the mileage drives the price down significantly on an '07 it may be worth going that way.
FYI for reference , Lexus dealers in my area charge $135 for a
Pre-purchase inspection (PPI).

OK had the car checked out for a pre purchase inspection at a Lexus dealer. All mainntenance completely up to date prior to 80k. Has new battery, windshield was replaced, bumper cover replaced (rear), diff serviced, been aligned regularly. Tires have been replaced at lease twice. Rear brakes done within last 10k miles.
Will need:
80k service $200
Front Brakes $300?
Rear wheels bent - can be straightened $400
Front tires $500
Cabin Filters
My wants:
Full paint correction / polish $500, no dings, but heavy swirls.
Remove replace front end protection.
Shocks feel soft at this mileage, no leaks - coilovers?
Steering rack, UCA, LCA bushings - slight vibe at 65 to 75mph, could be the bent wheels though.
Wheels - instead of straightening, go BBS direct from tirerack.
So pricing wise any more feelings here - there is a 80k mile 2007 Lexus @ Sewell Lexus @ 26.9k retail.
Would this be a decent deal at $23k.

Sounds like a fair deal especially with a well maintained one. Maybe try and get the seller to have it detailed for whatever you offer as part of the deal. Never hurts to ask. Im about to get new front shocks for mine and dealer in az quoted 460.00 which includes parts labor and tax.
Good call on new rims and losing the runflats. Quite a few forum members go that route after purchase and never look back

Have you received any sort of explanation why the rear bumper cover had to be replaced. That seems to shout "accident" regardless of what CarFax says.
I guess the windshield could be explained by a stray rock being thrown, but that's a bit odd too.
