Replaced theDunlop SP Sport 5000M DSST CTT with Bridgestone Potenza RE970A's. It transformed the cars ride. The most dramatic difference is that every little bump doesn't go up through my spine and into my teeth like the run flats did. Every thing about the Bridgestone's in terms of noise, ride quality, handling, etc, is dramatically better. The treadwear rating is nearly double too.
Trying to sell the old ones on craigs list. They have 12K miles on them with 7/32s left on the tread. I offerred them for a fraction of what they are new and nobody wants them.

Yeah, I drove my purchase home 700 miles with run-flats and couldn't stand them. Also, two of the wheels had hairline fractures and I blame it on the run-flats. First thing I did was change out run-flats for Conti extremes and bought new wheels. World of difference! The run-flats seemed to jar me around the road in a dangerous way. Having read a great deal of the posts prior to buying the car, I was ready to spend the money for new tires.

Haha. Just replaced my NON run flats that had 6/32 in center and 3/32 on edges and its rolling like brand new...of course new front shocks, motor mounts and tranny mount helped out too.
189k miles now and looking forward to turning 200k!

That's great to hear with maintenance, it can possibly reach 200K. I've been beating myself up for buying one that had 80K on it, and now doing the 90K service. I love the vehicle so much, but scared it would only take me to about 130K at the most.

I took a 1987 Audi 5000 Turbo Quattro from 4K miles to 220K miles and that car was nowhere near the build quality and component reliability of our SC430's. Also have a 2000 Ford Taurus at 170K miles (and this one is a regular winter driver as was the Audi). Have faith, tend to preventative maintenance, and replace the stuff you wear out! No reason why these Toyota/Lexus machines of ours shouldn't go the long-haul.
+1 on dumping the run flats. Feel the luxurious ride these cars can deliver.
