Interesting: "Wanted to Buy SC430" ad at Craigslist...
Happy new Year to all of you!
Just came across this Craigslist ad:
WTB: 2002+ Lexus SC430 pref. in blk/white with black interior
Wanted: retired couple looking to buy 2002+ Lexus SC430 hardtop convertible. Preferably in white or black. Will consider purple or red exterior as well. Must have black interior. Thank you.
They must have seen a nice SC430 somewhere and fell in love.
Nice to know our SC still in demand

I am constantly getting solicitations in the mail from a couple of Lexus dealers in my area, wanting to buy in my SC430. Hear from other Lexus dealers that their SC430s that they take in get bought pretty quick. We're onto a good thing here !

Sorry to break your heart, I get letters like this for all of my used cars that go into my dealership for service. They make at least a 33% markup on a used car. Then they also get to sell you a new car, double whammy.

Loved it, sorry you don't have the southern california weather.

I get the same letters for a 2002 Pontiac Sunfire, 2004 Ford Expedition etc. BTW, I outright sold my Expedition (not traded) to the Local Lexus dealer and they put it on their used car lot.
Dealers can make more profits on used cars than new cars.

most people don't realize the profit margin in used cars! Dealers only sell new cars so they can reap the warranty repairs, they make next to nothing simply because of the competition giving their cars away.

I had a convertible from 1998-2005, put on 130k of topless miles. Even in a light drizzle I had the top down as long as I was on the freeway. People would look at the crazy many with the top down in a drizzle. Oddly I'd always see someone else doing the same thing. The aerodynamics keep the water out. I'd keep a little towel for the little that my back seat would get wet.
Loved it, sorry you don't have the southern california weather.

Completely agree with this statement. I would guess that 95% or so of new car dealers revenues are based on service, not sales.
