Default Nav question...

My sister wants to get an SC430 and I'm trying to figure out if the factory nav screen incorporates other functions like climate control. I've been poking around your forum and it seems as though it is a free standing unit, at least the earlier cars.

On the RX330/350 the factory nav does incorporate other functions and when it fails the dealer wants 10k to fix it so you have to go scrounging around junk yards hoping to get a good unit. I do not want my sister to have to deal with that so your responses will determine what car she ends up getting.

Please hurry! She's in luuuuv!

Through year 2009 Nav screen does not display anything other than NAV, silly calendar and customer input to a maintenance tracking calendar. IT DOES NOT INCORPORATE OR DISPLAY CLIMATE OR RADIO FUNCTIONS.

I find the NAV on my '02 to be refreshingly simple to use, and I think keeping the radio and heat controls separate is a good idea that seems to be on the verge of being abandoned.

Ah! A familiar 'face'! I know Mandyfig has an SC as well. My sister is having a ball looking at cars online, she fills my mailbox daily! Is the leather on the SC better quality than the rest of the line? I have yet to see trashed leather, it seems to improve with age, especially the saddle color.

I have the ecru (off-white) leather, and find it to be pretty high quality. Of course, it needs to be cleaned more than the darker leathers (in '02, there was only the white, black and "saddle," which was a little too much on the orange side for a lot of people, and was eventually dropped for something more like a real "tan.") I would think that the quality of the leather is the same for all of the colors. After 12 years, I don't see any substantial deterioration of the leather. Also: I recall reading that some of the "leather" surfaces in the car other than the seats, such as on the doors, are not real leather. If it's fake, it's a really good fake.
(Which reminds me of my favorite line from Argo: "If I'm going to make a fake movie, it's going to be a fake hit.")

My car is a white 02 with saddle! I remember when I first saw it in 2002 I was hesitant about if I liked it or not, thinking that the color was too extreme. Now I love it! I don't like the newer "tan" version.
