Fair Deal on new SC
New to forum...need help. Dealership offering SC with basically everything for $62,000. All options (what few there are) except lexus link, car cover and nose bra. Fair or fight for more? Cash buy, so no leverage with payment type. Thanks for opinions.

I'm no expert
but I was chatting with my salesman at the opening of the new (lavish) sales and service building and he mentioned that there is now no real waiting list, but that the SC430s are moving out of the showroom just about as fast as they come in. They usually have about 3 in stock. For this reason, he said that they are still selling all SC430s at sticker price.
From what I know about Lexus Link, it's GM's Onstar system, and you should read about the pros and cons before signing up. It sounds neat, but after the first "free" year, most owners do not sign up for the continued service. If you have your own cell phone and nav system in the car, the advantages are minimal and may not be worth the price to you.
I did not know that a car cover or nose bra were options. You can always get these later in the aftermarket, probably at a better cost than the dealer is offering.
From what I know, at least in this part of the country (midwest), anything under sticker would be a good deal. In LA, the demand is greater, but there are also more cars being shipped to CA than to any other state. (Florida is second -- this is no shock.)
Finally, the luxury tax ends after Dec 31 -- next week -- so you might want to wait as that amount is around $800. (I think it's 4% of the amount over $40,000.00, but I'm not sure.) Before then, somebody is going to pay that to the US of A, so it might wise to verify with the folks there what the price would be if you waited.
Happy motoring.

Think a lot depends on color. I wanted specifically Silver/Saddle so dealer only took $1000 off sticker. However, he offered Black/Saddle for several thousand less. Lighter colors generally sell faster in So. Florida.

Thanks Again for the info. Just faxed the dealer a response to come down to the $59,000 - $60,000 range.
They just responded with $60,700 and agreed to swap wheel caps when they arrive in the Spring. What do you think?

Will do. Just dropped the possible trade in of my 2000 corvette convertible on them, so the saga continues. Thanks to everyone. Nice to have my back covered by everyone.

Dealership only offered $31,000 for trade. Just sold for $38,000. Considering waiting till '04's come out. What are the chances of new wheels (not just inserts) for 2004? Thanks

Haven't seen any info on '04's, in ClubLexus or elsewhere, other than the fact that Lexus will introduce an '04 SC330. From what I've seen, it will also be a hardtop convertible. You may want to wait to see what that's all about.
