Can we just close out this subject since it has obviously taken a turn for the worse? If anyone has anything relevant to say about the upcoming SC330, I'd love to hear it. Otherwise, let's just drop it.
Rogers, you're right. It is crazy to compare the G35 coupe with the SC. I didn't buy my SC to race Twenty-somethings with backward baseball caps. Go visit the FreshAlloy forum.

2003

I hope it's definitely gonna be a hard top coupe with the inline 6 and maual six speed.
The fixed roof should make it lighter; maybe drop 200lbs?
(I'm not sure how much the motors, mechanism, and supportiing hardware/electronic for the convertible top weighs)
But hopefully the coupe would be more nimble
The inline 6 would be great with a turbo added on =)

I'd like to see it as more of a "fast back", with the V8 in it and less gadgets than the 430. I think this would be better competition for the G35 Coupe, the MB CLK 500 and maybe even the BMW M3. I'm thinking tighter suspension, shorter wheelbase and lighter alloy wheels...........more of an "enthusiasts" car with the emphasis on handling and performance.

This picture has been posted before and is now in the gallery.
It's titled"Tom's SC430", but actually looks like a right-hand drive Japanese Soarer.
The license plate has Soarer(inJapanese)330 on it. Does anyone know why?
Is the 330 engine now in the Japanese Soarer already ? https://www.clublexus.com/gallery/sh...t=1&thecat=504

I just looked at a Lexus production schedule for the next few years. There was nothing on there about the SC330 at all. According to our Lexus rep. that car is not even being considered at this moment. However this fall and next fall they will produce a limited edition SC430 called the Pebble Beach edition. The ES330 is coming soon along with the RX330 that will use the same 3.3 V6 used in toyotas like the new sienna minivan. The schedule did mention that the ES is getting a restyle in late 04 as an 05, the LS is being restyled as well as late 03 as a 04 with performance increases as well. The new IS platform which will have numerous models and more engine/drivetrain choices and will come in 07, with an even bigger push to the 25-35 demographic and will still be in the 30k range. According to Lexus the new GS due in 05 will be unlike anything Lexus has ever done with even more emphasis on performance.
